  1. Hmmm. I think I will pass on these, even as a handbag. I think they are butt ugly. I have a feeling I may be alone in that statement though.

    2. Yeah, they're not doing it for me either. I might have bought the black or white one if they had been smooth and undecorated on the outside.

    3. No no redlipstickandpearls, I'm with you on this. My style preferrance looks also quite different to this...

    6. I would have taken the white STYLE with a red or black color. The white color is too easily dirtied in my mind. The floppy stuff on the outside I would be afraid it would get torn or come off... I'll pass.

  3. I love the multi-functionality! I can see myself using these. I'll reserve judgement on "ugliness" until I've seen one in person. I like the fact that they're made of leather.

    1. I agree some things don't photograph well and do look better in person. A detachable wristlet strap to the purses I think would have been an advantage. Personally the fact it's leather puts it out of my price range..

  4. I adore the look of the spiral one and don't find them ugly at all! I love the multi- functionality... great idea to have removable rings here, and even find the tassels pretty. A little expensive for me.... but I love it. Well done Filofax for thinking of us purse and wallet Filofaxers. Now all we need is a similar design concept for the guys... but one that works in a trouser and jacket pocket..... without being annoyingly big and uncomfortable or having a tendency to fall out.... two main wallet gripes which my dad has. Man wallet Filos need to work, otherwise us gals end up carrying them 'to be looked after' in our handbags!! Filofax, I am really impressed with your thinking and new design. Would so love to do a product review.

    1. I too like the design, all three. I have an Ikat, which is ugly but very pratical, I think it's the same internal design, wallet and removable compact rings, but now in leather. Hope Filofax add an external pocket to this models. Would like to see the inside.

    2. I also like the black spiral version. Am getting a bit unhappy with the seemingly immediate knee jerk bad reaction to everything Filofax try out. I understand frustration with quality control, but let the market decide with regard to innovation.

  5. I liked them til i realised they had rings in...and why are they so expensive!!

  6. I just scored a vintage compact zipped Portobello in red---no foolishness on the cover--and the rings stay put. If I removed (most of) the paper, I could probably fit a lipstick, some "lady items" , checkbook and other pocketbook items in it. But everything would fall out when I unzipped it. (single zipper does not allow for a "pouch" effect)

I'd rather have a Deco clasp or a Mulberry style postman's lock on something like this--the leather decorations will become tatty very quickly, I imagine.

    Keep trying, Filofax...

  7. I'm sorry to say they don't look very special and certainly not unique - you can see this style wallet EVERYWHERE and the attempt at external "design" isn't cutting it for me. I, of course, have not seen one in person but other than sporting the name "Filofax", I'm pretty sure I wouldn't even pick one up. I wish Filofax would stick with what they have done (and in some cases are doing) well - simple, classy, timeless leather without all the frou-frou embellishments. It seems like they retire the planners that come close to that and which have proven to be very popular and resort to using inexpensive materials (for so many of their current) products. I'm wondering who they think is their target audience? They seem to be all over the place - vinyl, plastic, cloth, vibrant colors, etc. - which are fine in one sense - but do not have the timelessness and class that the name Filofax should embody.

    1. Marianna,
I couldn't agree more with you and see we think alike. I had posted a similar reaction but more direct - which I thought might be considered rude - and hence, deleted it afterwards.

  8. Exactly, Marianna!

The "timelessness and class" used to mean a great deal to this brand. Filofax has lost its way lately--it might behoove them to consider refocusing on what made them great for so long.
Coach found this to be true, and have narrowed their lines to what works--instead of what works now.
You can't be all things to all people.

  9. What the hell is this??? Why must they waste R&D funds on this crap? Sorry to be rude, but this is so awful it makes me angry. At least it's not made out of pony skin.

  10. Truly ugly, IMHO. I wouldn't use/carry one if they gave one to me.

  11. Not that keen myself to be honest - the designs on the outside aren't really my thing, but that doesn't mean that others won't be tempted :-)

  12. I wonder what sort of pockets these would have on the inside? Is it just a pouch with rings inside? The spiral one is not so bad, but the price tag is a bit high, even for leather.

  13. I use my slimline Adelphi in the same way, it's my purse and diary all in one. A great idea and saves a lot of space in my bag. I think these look ok actually but I'd like to see one in person first.
