Reader Under The Spotlight - Samantha

I am Samantha Barker, born on the 7th of February 1981 in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America.
I own a small business called Bubbley Creative and my passion is scrapbooking. Having your own business and planning go hand in hand. So I started my Filofax journey in November 2012. Filofax is new in my country and through my Facebook page  and my website  I am trying to get people more acquainted with this organizer brand.

1. When did you buy your first Filofax and what was it?

I bought my first Filofax in December 2012 and it was a personal Finsbury in Antique Rose.

2. What other brands have you used or considered using?

I am also the owner of a Succes Binder, one Punctuate planner that I got as a gift from a RAK friend, and one Paperchase planner.

3. Out of the organisers you own which is your current favourite (Style and Size)?

I always wanted a A5 Finsbury in Raspberry and now I own one!! I use her as a diary and I love her!!

4. How many Filofax organisers do you own?

Hmmmm…I own six at the moment and have three others on the way!

5. What is the oldest Filofax in your collection?

My Finsbury Personal in Antique Rose.

6. What do you use your Filofax for?

I use three at the moment:

  • a mini Finsbury in pink as my wallet
  • the personal Finsbury in Antique Rose as my work/life planner and
  • my A5 Finsbury in Raspberry that I use as a diary.
7. What was the feature about Filofax you like most?

All the vibrant colors, the sizes and the models and the way you can customize your planner as you desire!

8. If you could design your own Filofax what would it feature?

A build in pocket for pens and more color combinations of the leather. Maybe even embossed with birds ;-)

9. How do you carry your Filofax?

  • My A5 diary stays on my desk due to the size and weight :-)
  • My mini and my personal I carry in my purse all the time.
10. Which Filofax in the current range do you like the most? Are you going to buy it?

I ordered a Magenta Adelphi two days ago!!!! And I think I'll love and enjoy her!!

11. What is the most you have ever spent on a Filofax? Which model?

The Original Fluoro Pink  in A5  for $110.

12. What's your favourite Filofax tip or hack?

The different ways people condition the leather of their babies. I live in a South American country, so I am obliged to do so!
13. Turning to Philofaxy, what do you like the most?

Philofaxy keeps you informed about all the new things regarding Filofaxes!! Got to love that site!!

14. And what do you not like about Philofaxy?

15. What was the last music track you downloaded or bought?

"All of Me" from John Legend

16.  Mark Darcy or Daniel Cleaver?

Daniel Cleaver, please.

Thank you Samantha for stepping under our spotlight and answering all our questions.

  1. Hello Samantha, Nice meeting you here! I received today a Mini Malden in vintage pink - is that the same model as I've spotted on your blog today?

  2. WAVES.....Hello, Samantha......WAVES

  3. Hi Sylke, yes it is. But I traded it with a friend of mine for a pink Cross, in pocket size. I was hoping the color would be more on the pink than on the purple side :-(

    1. Thank you for your swift answer. Hmm, I did not know how the colour from the cross-Filofax would be, but I find this model too stiff for my taste. More the Malden fan ;-) Hope you'll find the right one in the end. The most pink model i own in A5 is the Apex the next would be the Domino (both. Non leather) and last the Chameleon (more dark pink but leather in snake optic).

  4. BIGGGGGGGGGGG wave to you,sweety!!!!!!!!

  5. I have a black Original, a Raspberry Chameleon and a Pink Finsbury , all in personal size on, the way. And trying to get a Malden in Ochre at the moment. Trying to build my TOP 5, haha! The Cross is indeed very stiff.

  6. Lovely to meet you, Samantha!
That sounds like a great little collection :)
