Free for All Friday No. 534

The company that makes Filofaxes calls them "organizers," but many of us think of them as "planners," and that's what we mainly use them for: writing down our plans so we remember them.

But do you ever write down things after they happen, to help you remember where you were, what you were doing, or who you were with?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss and/or ask anything ring-binder related!

  1. In the past I used to have a Journal section in my organiser, a simple week on two pages insert. But I often found that I didn't write anything in it. I went over to keeping a separate journal in a bound planner. My journal keeping has improved a bit since then!

  2. Yes. Apart from an annual/ monthly overview, I havent used my organiser (with an ‘s’ in Queen’s English!) as a diary or daily planner for several years. I find that digital (Informant rather than the generic Apple app) works better for appointments and (especially) reminders and routine to-do items. I DO use my organiser a lot for meetings and after I’ve caught-up friends. It’s easy to forget feelings, issues and emotions, and paper works better for recording these.

I’ll often jot down key points of things that are happening in mine and other people’s lives (health, family, whatever) and reflect back on the day with my notes last thing at night. I find this helps my brain sort out all the things going on in my head and focus on what’s important in life!
