What I have always liked about them is the ability to be able to customise the contents to your own requirements and to be able to change the contents as required.
I have personally been creating my own Personal Size fill these last couple of weeks. It has been quite a challenge, but an enjoyable one all the same.
I'm hoping to be able to use Personal size next year for a change to my usual A5 set up. I will of course be reporting back on the challenges, the pros and cons (for me)
What is it you like most using about a Filofax personal organiser?
Of course it is Friday so please feel free to discuss anything Filofax related, no matter what size organiser your favourite is!
Not necessarily a Filofax, but ring binders in general: I like the ability to add, remove, and rearrange as needed.

As you know I made that move early in 2025, having had a very interesting conversation with Zsu when she was briefly in the UK. I've found it both challenging and rewarding in equal measure, and I'll be following your journey with interest.

Hello! (Zsu here). The move from A5 to Personal can be challenging, and sometimes the need-to-downsize can be the thing that helps make the transition. I'm very curious about your observations, Steve, as well as David's of course. But I suspect I'll be able to revisit the A5-to-Personal journey with David in person in December :)

DeleteI'm in a challenging period with my Personal at the moment. I plan to set aside a little time to think through a few issues shortly because I really want to stay in Personal and make it work
I find A5 is a good size to be usable but is hard to fit in work bags if you have too much already to carry. Laptop, notebooks, cables, lunch, coats, etc. So when I had to replace the bag with a lower capacity I went back to personal sized.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately A5 Lyndhurst or Finsbury to Personal Holborn is not much of a reduction in depth just in area. For me I need a thinner filofax over a smaller one. If I could get an A5 filofax that is as thin as my Lyndhurst mini FIlofax then I reckon I would go with that. It would then slip into my laptop pocket with the works laptop and I still get the practical A5 insert real estate.
If anyone knows an 11mm or 15mm ringed A5 model that is being sold, or has one for sale cheaply, Then please let me know. I might be interested again. In the meantime I have had to decamp to a discbound based planner.
