Filofax has launched Blossom – an organiser with a ditzy floral print emblazoned on a leather look cover. Featuring an internal cream faux suede lining, the Blossom organiser is available in two sizes, Pocket (£23) and Personal (£26).

    1. I agree, I want pockets and at the very least a pen loop! I'm not sure what's up with the new binders this year, but in most of them either the pen loops are in the wrong place or are missing entirely.

    2. Agreed. Also, if I wanted a binder with a ditsy print I'd go to the Paperchase own-brand binders...

    3. Actually looking at the top photo it looks like the pen loop is under the closure strap, so I take it back about the pen loop. Still would have liked some pockets though.

    4. I agree Gail, the outside looks lovely but the inside is too plain. Plus why didn't they make the divider tabs in the same pink/yellow tones?

    5. Yes, I was going to say the same thing - I'm not sure why a lot of the new binders are lacking in interior pockets. That's a deal breaker for me...

  4. This is very pretty! But I don't think they meant to use "ditsy" in their press release. Maybe it means something else in the UK, but in the US that's not a flattering word!

    1. In UK slang it just means a small, usually floral, print. I imagine what you think of 'ditsy' as is what we call 'dippy' or 'dipsy'

    2. In the US it means a person who is not very intelligent, scattered and forgetful. Not the image they are hoping to project I'm sure!!

    4. I wondered about this myself, if that word was used by choice, if there was another meaning for it in the UK. I deal with far too many ditsy people in life, I can't afford for my planner to be forgetful and scatterbrained! Quite the opposite of what I want my planner to be, of all things. ;-)

  6. Whenever I see new Filofaxes without any pockets or slots inside I always think I will need to get some of those Midori pockets that stick on the insides. They are used in the Midori Traveler's Notebooks. I suppose they would work on these as well.

    I added this Filo to my "to buy list" in my head and then I saw the inside pictures... Not gonna buy. Uh. And the cover is so nice...

  8. No pockets (like this model), or pockets that are really just slits (like The Original). A response to customer demand or a great way for Filofax to cut production costs and hold on to profit margins in the wake of falling sales. What do you think?

  9. No pockets... Not a candidate for an everyday Filo, in my book. Which is a bit of a pity, because I like how the cover looks.

  10. Their last published accounts were for 2011/2. Filofax sales were down by 6.4 per cent to £18.8m over the year to 31st January 2012 and group profits down to £2.1m on sales of £53m. According to its last annual report, Filofax said: "Margins came under pressure with costs of raw materials increasing by around 5 per cent."

    It's fair to assume that things will have got worse for 2012/3 as the table market has grown. I don't make a judgement on their strategy but they are clearly continuing for lower production cost volume rather than moving (returning!) to niche top end UK manufacture.

  11. I really like the cover---very girly girl to me-but hey, I like it. What a shame that something as easily tweaked like a color on the inside..... Or a pocket with the same print as the front.
    Laurie is 100% right- ditsy is not a word that someone here in the US would associate with an organizer--just the opposite to me.

  12. I absolutely love the cover and wished to buy it. But then... as a huge disappointment, I saw the picture of the inside. Not one single pocket? Not even a pen loop? In that case, I might just as well use one of the free diaries you get as a gift at the end of each year from companies.

      Yes, now that you said it, I can see it as well... *lol* I had looked at the third pic (the one, where you can see it open). Looks like they've hidden the pen loop very well this time. ;-)

      Still a bit disappointing, that on the inside it is so plain. The cover design is absolutely lovely.

  15. Might be one I wait until it goes on sale. I do love the cover for me its very girly. But much like everyone else I like having the pockets to stick my cards in. I will probably just print of a picture of it and keep it as a dream Filofax.

  16. I am not a girly girl, so I don't often go for floral prints. This one is not for me, though it being bright and happy in a way, I can see the appeal for some.

  17. I have to say, it´s not one I´ll be going for. As for the no pockets thing, it´s not stopping me wanting the school book one, but I have a specific purpose for that one and don´t need pockets in there :-)

  18. Clearly, Filofax are trying to cut down on manufacturing costs, but having no pockets can be a good thing for some people.

    I have a vintage "0CLF", which is an English made filofax in calf leather with zero pockets. I find it useful to be able to write on the reverse of each page, without having to find something to slide between the first page and the front cover first.
