  1. If this was a normal Malden (in normal sizes with a clasp) then this would be beautiful and i would join the Malden club! Im glad they have brought out this colour, i have a craving for Navy!

    1. Same here...I wished for a navy Malden but in Personal!

    2. This in both personal size AND A5 or an A5 zip in Navy with the 30 mm rings and minus the iPad sleep part.

  2. I really don't like the look of the leather, especially the inside of the compact. It looks like someone slept on it, then glazed the result.
    Or is that just me?

  4. Malden zip compact navy looks very handsome. Now, if they´d only cure the doom of crappy rings ( seriously, why do I get perfect rings in supermarket 3€ binders but a 170€ binder sucks like there´s no tomorrow?!? Inquiring minds urge to know ) and ditch the heinousness of white stiching, I might feel a familiar tingling of a desire to a new Malden.

In all seriousness, I already detect the symptoms already but I´m sure one look of those rings will cure it all in half a nanosecond.

    1. Have you had a bad set of rings? Did you return it? Did they refuse a replacement?
Of the people that I know that have had ring problems with any Filofax irrespective of the age of the item, I don't know of any of them that have been refused a replacement.

    2. Yup. Replaced and came back better. After about a month of use there were entire gaps and every paper got snagged. Since I was reluctant for another eternity it would take for a newer version of kinda sorta rings, I opted to wrestle them suckers tighter. Better for another few weeks after which the same occurrence struck home. It would almost be silly if they weren´t so overpriced in terms of quality. The colossal joke of this all is, I hadn´t even snapped the rings open even once, after loading the stack of pages in. The same with my son´s binder ( his is a communication binder ). Oh, and my fancy replacement also had those adoringly clickety clacking bits at the end ( what are those things called, anyways! ) that open the system that were loose from the get- go.
No worries, though. I since bought a binder from Staples with few euros and slapped the whole bunch of paper in that. ( this serves the other point as well- meaning that I now can fit all of my household binder, calendars ( MPP, WPP, DPP ) and address book and notes etc etc etc in one binder which gets to live on my office desk )
Fantastic, smooth rings but it just irks me that before that I ended up paying too much of two gorgeous- looking binders that fail in their purpose.
I´m spoilt, you see. Over two decades I used a Balmoral, snapped its rings come and go and treated the poor love with the most unsightly neglect during my moves between countries. She´s still perfect. The rings are smooth- even after +20 years and so forth.
So now I´m beyond both miffed and hesitant to acquire a zipped personal item. This Malden above looks exactly what I´d like and love and need ( to serve both as a purse and a portable calendar and notebook ). As does a Holborn in zipped form. Unfortunately I already have two beautiful Maldens that are very easy on the eyes.

  5. "In the Navy...Yes you can sail the seven seas...In the Navy..." Navy is my favorite color for basics like suits and shoes, although most people prefer black. I love the idea of the A5 with the iPad case (although I'd need to find out whether it can accommodate an 8.9" Kindle Fire), but right now I use my A5 Filofax for business and my Kindle for recreational reading/web surfing on the go. I like to grab one or the other and go, but not both. But I can see how, if I started living my life out of an A5 instead of a Personal, this setup would be perfect! If Filofax made a Personal with bigger rings than the Compact, I could see using that as my primary organizer!

  7. Well, I must admit I'm very happy to see navy on offer. I carried a navy Cavendish for most of 2012 and loved the color. Sadly, I hate the Malden and so this won't float my boat.

  9. I've been longing for navy in either malden or Holborn, if I'd have known wouldn't have bought the purple compact zip malden and waited for the navy. I'm not sure if I'd get along with the A5 zip that also contains my iPad, maybe it's time to give it a go!!
