And then one day, I realised that I could just put some lined paper in the front of my personal filo, and I don't need to take my wallet either as I pop some change and business cards in too. It does mean I need to transfer my notes over to a proper sheet later, but it means I can fit the smaller items into one bag now.
Have you found any new uses for your binders recently?
And as it's Friday, please feel free to discuss anything Filofax or ringbound planner related.
Re Filofax's new website - I noticed that the Time Management refills are not longer available. Which just confirms to me that Filofax see their brand as a fashion accessory rather than a proper planner or time management tool. As I can't easily print my refills myself, I will have to get my 2 pages to a day refills elsewhere, but that means I will probably get all my refills elsewhere. Don't Filofax realise that they lose business by not catering to serious planners?

DeleteDid you not see my follow up comment on the post... these inserts will be added to the site in the coming weeks along with others that are not there at the moment.
Steve
@Steve does that include the personal day on two pages you can get in France and the US?
DeleteWas it previously available on the UK site? if it was then I guess yes it will appear. I don't know exactly what will be added, I only asked about the TM inserts yesterday, they were obvious by their absence.
DeleteNo it wasnt. you could get it in Conduit Street and order it my mail from France ( or other sellers on ebay) but never on the Filofax Uk site. I never understood that!
DeleteWhat is the reference number of them?
DeleteSteve
Steve, I didn't see your comment, but Filofax themselves told me they were not producing the 2 pages per day Time Management refill any more. They said they were only going to produce the TM 1 page per day or week to view in future, neither of which I use at the moment.
DeleteBut from an earlier comment you have inserts for 2014 ?
DeleteYes, I got the 2 pages per day insert which had been wrongly advertised as 1 page per day.

DeleteAre they making the Identity in personal size in leather now or was it a misprint?
ReplyDeleteThe description says 'Leather Look' but the title as you have spotted does say 'Leather' Also is the price correct a personal size for £75? the A5 is £37...
DeleteI will get that one checked out. So many details to check on any new site..!
Thanks for spotting that one.
Regards
Steve
Corrected and the price was as I suspected wrong!

Again thank you for that.
Thanks for that Steve...It just seemed weird xx
DeleteRegarding new uses for binders: I have had a brown slimline classic for years. I love the thing but never use it because its too small (ring size) for my needs and it doesn't lay flat (one of my requirements).
ReplyDeleteAs a big Starbucks fan, I found myself collecting random "specialized" gift cards. Certain cities/states have their own cards, so I decided to collect as many as I could. This year they have a "pumpkin spice" gift card to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the drink. I will probably get that at some point. So I have started using the slimline classic to hold all of these cards when they're no longer in use. It's a great way to use a binder that just sits on the shelf.
Re new uses for binders. I'd like to use one for a new casual hobby: geocaching, a worldwide real-life ongoing treasure hunt. The aim is to find 'caches' (often a tupperware container) with a log book and sometimes other things to swap or move between caches in both countryside and urban areas. Finds are then logged on the website http://www.geocaching.com/.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get out walking more as part of my efforts to becoome fitter. It's helping me find more places to go to and something interesting to do on route. Of course the places I've been to are logged on my account on the website, but noting them in a filofax is a nice offline record to keep too.

Deleteis waiting for the mailman to bring a Mini, and while I wait I was wondering: will a standard size pen be too big for it? Do I need like a pencil stub?
ReplyDeleteAny of the Filofax mini pens will fit, I have their Mini Barley pen, it is a ballpoint and nicely weighted
DeleteDo you know if filofax have stopped selling their personalised photo diaries? I can't find them on the new website :( I hope they have not discontinued them as I love them!
ReplyDeleteI am still using my planner in the same way but I am trying a different size, a Compact Filofax. I like the smaller size and less weight of it compared to the personal one. I have an old slimline planner but the rings are very small. I think that the compact size might be the happy medium. I also want to try to make my own inserts.
ReplyDeleteHi, I have tried binders, what to do with those pages you take out, and ringed books but I like the no rings diary planner book by moleskine the best. This is the one I will I will be ordering from year to year.
