  1. Another Filofax spotted in the wild this morning - this time at Crewkerne Station, being toted by a fellow-passenger for the London train. This one was a purple binder, Personal size, not a Malden, had a 'quilted' appearance to the cover.

The owner looked as if she night be a teacher, an a fairly serious FF user judging by the contents (what? nosy? me?!). I contemplated getting out my Hampstead and seeing if we could strike up a conversation, but decided against it. We are, after all, English.....

  2. My pocket wallet has reached the end of its life; I was planning to just purchase another simple men's folded wallet (for about 12 cards, cash, the occasional receipt) but HP's post from yesterday (6 Jan.) started me wondering if a small filofax could do this better. Also, Neil's excellent video on his M2 Filofax is food for thought. I have noticed that the one weakness of my current system is that I do not have pencil and paper on my person at ALL times (although I do much of the time!) and so a mini with wallet stuff and a store of notepaper and some most-critical reference info within could be a possible solution. Last time I tried this it was with a mini Windsor but it really didn't have enough card carrying capacity for my needs. Life in the USA seems to be entirely reliant on a bazillion cards these days, so wallets need to be gigantic. I could move more of the cards into my personal sized filofax, I suppose.

    2. I used the method in the post HP's has just linked too, it has worked very well, however my card pockets were made from a very cheap business card wallet and thus have not been very sturdy and due for replacement. The separate shopping lists I originally had e.g food, toiletries, stationery etc have also merged into one, but overall it makes the Mini work for me as a wallet and essential info filofax

  4. Hello everybody!
It's the first time I write here but I've been reading this blog for the last two months (since I bought my first FF) and I really want to thank you for all the precious informations I found here! :)

I'm also interested in using a Filofax as wallet.
Now I recently bought online a Mini Malden on sale (is mini format to be discontinued for real??) with the thought of using it as wallet, but I also recently saw that a shop here in my city is selling a M2 model, which I read, is discontinued (right?).
At the moment I use a typical man wallet (I really don't like woman wallets that are as big and heavy as a corpse!!) and I think that maybe the M2 would be more appropriate for me, but I'm afraid to spend so much money for a M2 (yeah, no sale at all for the M2, sigh!) and for some reason I can't decide to drop my actual wallet for the Malden...!
Based on you experience, which one would you recommend? Is the M2 worth the money compared to the Mini Malden? thank you :)

    1. Hi there.
Take a look at this post about my M2, it also shows a comparison to a Malden Mini. There's no reason why you can't use a Mini in a 'landscape format with the rings at the top.

M2's aren't made any more, they do come up on Ebay from time to time, but sometimes they now seem to go for inflated prices.

    2. Thank you Steve for your reply!!
I think I will give the Malden a try, as you suggest! :) Let's see how it'll work for me.
Even if I discovered today that the M2 in the shop I mentioned are now unexpectedly on sale at 50% off! doh!! it will be hard to resist!!

  5. My manager at my new job uses a Filofax, a stuffed, used and abused (loved) black personal sized one, which looks like an old-model (with button popper) Finsbury! And one of my lecturers uses one too although they are supposed to use Outlook calendar officially! I love it when I see professionals using Filofaxes!! :D

    1. Each store manager for the company I work for is given an A5 black Filofax (not sure of model but inserts seem to be cotton cream across the spectrum) as part of their 'kit'. Most seem devastatingly under used - few notes in them, no tabs, no scribbles, dividers are un-used. I get the opportunity to attend meetings with mangers despite it not being my role, so I always make sure my bright, bulging A5 'Filoflex' sits pride of place!

  6. I was so lucky to place a winning bid on a Filofax Finchley Bag. I searched for reviews or information about this bag and as I could not find much about it, I wrote one myself here: http://strickmuse.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-filofax-finchley-tote-in-portrait.html
It would be great to read if other Filofax users are enjoying this bag.
Of course now I am contemplating on getting a Finchley Filofax to go with that.

  7. I hope I can still ask a question today!

I just wanted to ask, is it normal to be stuck between two Filofax sizes? I love the Pocket for its portability, but the Personal is so much better for writing space! After much switching between the two I've chosen to stick to Personal, but... Does anyone else have this issue?

My partner is driven crazy by my obsession with Filofaxes and he thinks I'm just really weird!

    1. I was in the same situation! Love how the personal is roomy but I love also the portability of the pocket (which was the one I took with me in my last travel to Prague! It was a perfect mate!).
I decided to bring around with me the pocket and use the personal at home.

My boyfriend also looked at me like I was crazy when talking about Filofax ... until I gave him one as a christmas present. Now "he understands" ;D
