The year of the Malden

I'm a bit late, but wanted to wish you all a happy Chinese New Year! (kung hei fat choy)
I had thought to write a post comparing some of the Filofax models to the Chinese zodiac animals, but I'm afraid I'm not feeling particularly creative so the title is the only reference really.

Actually the title is a bit of a misnomer as I am feeling very content with my two Maldens and won't be buying any others. Yes, I am aware that I've said 'I am done' before, but I just feel that I have everything that I need from them:

  • Portability in the personal size
  • The crimson colour is, in my opinion, the best red shade I've seen from all the models and I couldn't imagine not owning a red binder
  • Extra storage space and larger paper size in A5 for projects
  • The more I use the ochre, the more I'm falling in love with the colour and it reminds me of cowboy boots and Indiana Jones.

  2. Yummy photos. I love my vintage/antique rose pocket Malden...but still on the lookout for that elusive big brother (or sister) - the rose A5 Malden. :)

  3. Malden all the way here. I love how they feel in my hands and how as they age they have even more character. Living in Paris, I take mine wherever I go and enjoy the admiring looks it gets when I'm writing in a cafe.

  4. ohoh! I see a Schneider pen! I received one for free with my last order from Cultpens and I love it! Infact I bought another three of them and I love also the fact that they are so cheap! :)

About Malden I have 5 of them, 2 A5 and a pocket ochre which are my favourites (yes that colour is amazing!) a personal aqua and a mini I use as wallet.
Excellent binders! Maybe a little bit overrated at the moment but I'm very satisfied with them.

  6. I just bought my first Malden (personal in black) a few weeks ago, and I am still mesmerized. I am probably going to break down and order the crimson pocket size from France and I see navy on some international sites also. I will also get an A5 before the year is over. I do have A5 in black - Finsbury and Bond, but I am starting to lust after the Malden A5 colors.

  7. Have 2 personal, a grey and an ochre. I had purchased the grey first and never really cared for the color. Impatiently waited a year to get the ochre and was surprised at how different the leather is. My ochre must have come from a 90 year old dry wrinkly buffalo and the grey from a nice tight young buffalo. I love the ochre color, wish I could have gotten an A5.

  8. I was given my A5 Ochre Malden for my 50th birthday, from my uncle. I was born in Chelmsford, and my parents lived in Maylandsea at the time. So the Malden seemed appropriate to celebrate my big birthday by remembering my Essex birth. Love my Maldens. xx

  9. Another Maldenphile here. I would love the crimson and it would suit my Chinese background too. In the meantime, I can also lovingly cherich my A5 ochre & personal vintage pink and aspire to other colours. I am definitely on the lookout for a Pocket too.
