Free For All Friday No 303

Imagine this was a Filofax.... the user interface is more or less the same... but you knew that already...

Of course it is Friday so feel free to discuss anything Filofax or ring bound planner related.

Have a great weekend.

  1. A Friday musing more than anything, moved my personal planning to a personal size as I was graciously given some seriously fab personal inserts.. however I like having fold outs parts of the calendar so I can see everything at once a little nod to the DIY fish inserts concept.. Just hated the feel of it, however moved it in a "fauxdori" and absolutely love it ... Which is strange because for work this system just wouldn't work... I also find it strange that there is very little difference in paper size but the Fauxdori just seems a better fit for my needs..

  3. Brilliant... I wonder if they've been reading Philofaxy though, because all the benefits of the 'bookbook' have long been extolled on this site! Hope IKEA haven't infringed copyright on such a revolutionary idea...

  4. Got a FC catalog and they have added a few compacts with 1 1/4" rings, tabbed closures, and even some with 2 pen loops. Also noticed classic sizes with 1 1/2" rings. They added a week + notes to there planner pages as well.

    1. Yes! Noticed all of the above in the FC catalog which arrived about a week ago. They also have a planner page design which looses the icky green color, wide borders, and stupid quotes. Clearly they are listening and trying to respond to the market. I'm impressed!

  5. Does anyone have any Filofax sales information from the 1950s, 1960s or 1970s? There seems to be no information available at all for the time between WWII and the Yuppie-era of the 80s.

    2. Well, I lost my whole post. My comment was I just found a perfect 1989 Deskfax. I decoded it as Statesman Black Montana calf with 5/4 rings.

    3. What I am interested in is: What models were produced during that time, what inserts were popular, are there any particular accessories, nobody ever saw again?

  6. Is there supposed to be a video link in this post? If there is, I can't see it. Is there a url?

    TIA

  8. I decided to buy a new planner that has 20 mm rings and it is not a Filofax one. I really like my Filofax Compact Luxe and I adjusted, removed, and crafted items so that I would use it for a long time. However even after all of that the 15 mm rings sometimes close on the paper and cause some tears. Also the paper curls or folds on the bottom when the binder is closed. I don't have too much in it but the small rings cause this minor inconvenience. My new binder will arrive by snail mail though and I don't know if I will like it. Sometimes I think I will really like a product and it turns out to be the opposite when it arrives.
