Free for All Friday No. 349

Recently I found a vintage made-in-the-UK Clouded Cream A-Z index pack in my Filofax inventory. I almost hated to open the packet and use this collector's item, but in the end I'm a user, not a collector. To my mind, there's no point in having something if you can't use it. I needed an A-Z index, and the Clouded Cream color was in harmony with the organizer I intended to use it in.

Do you have any inserts (or organizers) that you can't bear to use? Or do you use them anyway?

  1. Interesting topic. I find that I would like to use those vintage inserts, but that they are unavailable! For example the FF Time Management series is definitely something I would use. There are similar systems still available today, but more complex and with much more forms to choose between. FF should label some inserts evergreens and keep these in stock. Together with multiple sorts of dividers.

But, the same applies to the old catalogues, which are available fortunately on Philofaxy. I would love to see though the user manual to the Time Management system and see how the bits and pieces work(ed) together. Alas, found nothing on the internet thusfar.

  2. With the vintage leaves I keep one spare copy unused in a dedicated binder, but the rest are there to use.

    1. Thanks Bree. One of these days I'll share some photos of my "Filofax HQ".

  4. I have made copies of sheets like the Filofax personal expense one (portrait). My views on paper quality and inserts have changed. I prefer thicker paper for my insert and that each month diary precede the week pages. Instead of buying calendars and refills I designed my pages for my pocket binder. I will create the computer version of it and month dividers. I am not interested in trimming so much paper, gluing tabs, or looking for items to buy. Also in using less paper I notice some benefits. When I turn the July divider in my binder I see the July month diary since it is on one page.

  5. Oh yeah! there are Franklin Covey inserts they don't make anymore--Values, Record of Conversation, Daily Record of Events, more. There are plenty of inserts from the Franklin Quest days that just plain don't exist anymore, so I hoard them whenever I find them in garage sales, thrift stores etc.

  6. Can anyone recommend how to store used pages? I don't want to use Filofax storage binders, but need to archive/store my journal pages. Grateful for any suggestions.

    1. One inexpensive way is illustrated here trina.
Or you could just bundle them up using treasury tags, maybe adding a flyleaf front and back.
