Free For All Friday No 400 by Laurie

It's our 400th Free For All Friday!! Wow!! Huge thanks to everyone for your interest in this series. It has been very popular. I have to admit I look forward to FFAF every week, because you never know what the comments and discussions will be!

I've decided I'm going to call my Filofax "The Oracle" so when I need to look in it for something I can say, "Let me consult The Oracle!"

Do you name your binders?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss/ ask anything ring-binder related!

  2. Seconded! A source of information and 'getting togetherness' every Friday.

  3. Good Morning Laurie' Happy Anniversary! Free For All Friday is the best! Like coffee and conversation together (as I brew my 2nd cup). Out of my nine planners, five are named: Green Tejus is Bronte; Red Lizard is Lady Granthom (yes, I know it should have been "Countess" and I named it in honor of Elizaberh McGovern's love of bright red lipstick); Mini VDS is Lil' Min; Standard VDS is Agnes (told by an old friend that the character from Desipicable Me reminded them of me. Lastly my brand new genuine pink ostrich A5 that my fiancé bought me while at the VDS meet up in Rotterdam is Oscar.

  4. 400th!...Congratulations! I have 7 binders and I call all of them "Sophie"; she is my assistance so I imagine is the same girl with different outfits :)

  5. Congrats and Happy Anniversary!

I never 'officially' named my Filofax, but I do refer to it as the Chairman of the Board in my head, but never out loud!

  6. Congratulations on the 400th! I've only named 3 binders. The KS is Katelyn Covade O'Fax, the Electric Blue Finsbury is Aunt Vi, and the green FC Boston is Sprout. They are all bossy.

  7. Wow, happy anniversary to the Free For All Fridays!

I've never felt the need to name any of my binders, I guess. However, I may consider doing so with my Kensington as I've sold all the others & have no plans to buy any more. Hmm, we shall see :)

  9. Congrats on 400 FFAF!

And now to something completely different:
Can I change the ring mechanism of a gillio medium to 13 mm Krause Rings?

    Thanks

  10. Thank you for this wonderful website and all your hard work everyday!
Miss Malden, Miss Mini Malden, Mr. Durham, Miss Ebony (my Luxe) and the rest of my collection has just found a new friend. His name is Heritage. I bought him, knowing nothing about him but the words A5 Compact. He weighs 531 g with all his inserts, that is 358 g less than my Miss Topaz! Can you believe it? After so many years, an A5 with rings as small as a pocket Luxe! He is so beautiful and minimalistic, but I do not use A5, I am using a pocket. ... at least right now, you all know it might change in the future ;) Anyway, I am definitely keeping him, welcome to the family!

  11. No, I don't name my planners, they're just a good looking utility to me :). I've never named my vehicles, either, although my vintage Vespa and Austin Mini were both very tempting!

  12. Brain. If I tear out a page my smarty pants son will grab his head and scream, "no! She's ripping out neurons!"

  13. Never felt the inclination to name my planners and until recently did not know people did that.

  14. I call mine a sketchbook rather than a planner, although it has a well used wo2 diary, it's mainly filled with sketches and doodles. Not really a name but I often refer to it as my sketchbook. I do not know why more artists don't use a Filofax as a sketchbook, moleskines are widely used but not Filofaxes I replaced the paper with a better quality for ink etc and it's great.
