  1. Free printables: any good YouTube links on how to successfully print double-sided with 8.5 x 11 inch paper? I have a printer that only prints single-sided, but I'd invest in a double sided if 1. it can be found in a small size and 2. if I was confident I could master the method.

    1. See my reply a bit further down, Sharon. For some reason it's tagged it onto the end. Maybe because I wasn't logged into Google when I hit "publish"?

    2. I print both A5 and A6 and Personal single sided, you just have to set your PC to print Odds then turn the pages over and then print evens.

I'm not aware of any duplex printer that will do duplex printing of A5 or smaller pages.

    3. I've been using auto-duplex to make A5 (and some smaller custom pages) for diary and personal notes for speeches for years now. It takes a little practice to get the best out of each piece of software and a new printer but it's not been a big obstacle.

  2. Any news on the winners of the Rapesco punch competition?

    2. Thanks. I want to get a punch, but obviously will hang on to see if my luck is in :-)

  3. Intentionally, I realised that I have more to write on each day's diary than there is room on the week per view inserts. So I switched to Filofax's day per page personal inserts a few days ago.

While the horizontal week per view inserts have improved on the paper quality over the last years when it comes to using a fountain pen, the day per page inserts did not. So the conclusion would be to look for Cotton Cream inserts, which are not available from Filofax. Having a quick look at other manufacturer's websites revealed that there are none either - maybe I did not look thoroughly enough.

So before doing day-long research, does anybody know of good, fountain pen resistant, maybe cotton-cream-like day per page inserts in Filofax Personal format?

    1. I have used Exacompta 17 inserts, that is a little bit wider as FF Personal size. The paper quality is very good for funtain pen use (close to Clairfontain paper) bot the daily layout might not suit everybody. Another lesser paper quality but still better than Filofax inserts are Chronoplan inserts with the same paper size as Filofax Personal. The Layout is more business like (black and red print on plain withe paper.)

    2. Sorry for the poor typing errors. I seem to never get the best out of using my smartphone for the posts here o=

    3. Ah, what I forgot, the Exacompta inserts are cotton cream ones.

You can order them from the French manufaturer from Amazon.de. And here you can look up the design: https://www.amazon.de/Exacompta-Terminplaner-Einlage-Exatime-Halbjahr-Januar-Juni/dp/B009ICSM7O/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1483438943&sr=8-15&keywords=Exacompta+17
But if you are using a Filofax Cavendish with 30mm rings, it could be hard to turn the excompta inserts as I have experienced it with mine. Not sure if this issue comes with every Cavendish organiser or if that's a single event. The Exacompta inserts are working fine in any of my other personal or compact FFs.

    4. Thank you, Feld Effekt, for this note. In a quick research, I found out that the 'normal' Exatime 17 inserts are 10.5 x 17.2 cm - I think this is too large for most Filofax organisers.

But I also found the Exatime/QuoVadis 18550E (you will find both names) day per page inserts. These are for the Exatime 17 Pocket and measure 9.2 x 17 cm (or 9.8 x 17 cm - I found both).

Some other aspect is the layout - I am not confident that it will work for me: 10:00 and 10:30 on one line... Maybe I should just try it.

    5. Quick note as it is already very late for bed time: my exacompta small inserts measure 9.8 x 17 c. That means the withe would interfere with side tab dividers. That is no problem with me as I use top tab dividers.

  4. You can usually flip on either the short or long size to print on both sides. The files here, and on MyLifeAllInOnePlace, and on Morgan Le Fae's Trinkets all have instructions on printing on both sides manually, so no need to invest in another printer. Hope this helps.

  5. Thanks, that sounds reasonable, I am lametastic with printers at work. By the time I learn how to use one, they change them.
