Free For All Tuesday No 311

Tuesdays is the day we open the floor to you all to ask questions or discuss anything ring bound planner related.

Don't be shy to ask a question, we were all 'beginners' once me included. Don't think oh it is silly to ask a simple question that has been asked before.

Fire away with those questions and the answer might already be on Philofaxy, but yes I know it's not always easy to find particular posts.

  1. Here's something that I'd like to canvas opinion on please...
Given our main focus on paper-based organising, are there aspects of time management and more general stuff management* that you'd be interested to see covered in a book?

    * with thanks to The Perpetual Student for this phrase!

    1. I would be interested. However, I think that the scope for a successful paper book is limited these days. A digital book - such as Ray Blake has just published, would be cheaper to produce.

There are several websites/ blogs/ social media outlets that focus on time management such Tim Management Ninja and GTD (Getting Things Done). However, most of the ideas seem to be reinvented from the 1970s gurus - such as identifying key 'elephant' projects and breaking them down into bite size chunks. I guess little is really new!

    2. I like the idea of Tim management! Actually, for me that nails it. Self management in terms of managing stuff, time and motivation is more important than just time management!

  2. Hello everyone! Has anyone out there bought one of the Classic Croc range in POCKET size? If so will you pass on a brief opinion as to manageable size, the zipper pocket (does it work or does it make the planner bulky when full) and most importantly, does it lie flat? I saw Flavia's review via Web Finds, but unfortunately it was in Italian. Thanks.

    1. If you weren't aware, Google Chrome will offer to translate pages in other languages - so you could easily go back and read that review.

    2. Here is the translated text from that review:

Dear readers, here I am I'm back !!! After my long absence due to exams (I studied all summer for an exam I gave on September 1st!), Today I propose a post full of photos of my new pocket calendar, birthday gift super early, the Filofax Classic croc in indigo color. Here it is in all its glory while yesterday was in the car with me ...

This agenda is not the crocodile leather croc effect is only a print and is very soft to the touch and, in my opinion, it is also very resistant to scratches. It exists in three colors: faun, a beautiful beige full, or a brown chestnut hot and finally indigo that is what you see in the picture. Then there are four formats: pocket, personal, personal compact and A5. The novelty is that all the models that I have listed will have a handy pocket book, the famous "backpocket", featuring Gillio agendas and Van Der Spek. I'm in love and I always carry it with me because it's my planner "on the go" in the handbag say, where I have everything I need and can also be conveniently used as a wallet because it also has a practical zip pocket for coins and many card pockets. I show you some pictures:

I must say that the rings are much thicker, much larger than the ones I've seen in any other pocket of the brand while remaining 19 mm. I also like the fact that the pen loops, a pen holder, both stretch and managed to make us even get a nice mines door chubby !!!
