Free for All Friday no. 453 by Nan

Let's color our worlds today!

Do you use colored pages or colored ink in your organizer? Is it an important part of your organization system, or do you do it just to delight the eye?

Or do you like to see things in black-and-white? Maybe you can't see certain colors very well, or you find color distracting.

Of course, since it's Friday, all ring-bound organizer discussion is welcome!

  1. For me only black and red pen ink, plus occasionally some high-lighters too. Too much colour is distracting me, as there is no clear focus/prioritisation.

  2. I put tasks in black, but write appointments, events or a note or entry about the day in blue so that it stands out. I was also testing using red to record discretionary spending amounts, but it was too much and wasn't something I needed to track.

  3. I color code by person, so my tasks are usually in black. I don't use colored paper, but I do have some white paper where the lines and a narrow strip of edge are different colors, from a 4 subject notebook. I use that to color code my family's notes.

  4. I write in blue because, as it was so pleasingly phrased, it is a delight to my eye. :) I use a dot of green highlighter on paydays. Red ink in my planner is for DO NOT FORGET THIS, NO MATTER WHAT events or tasks. Highlighter makes it onto my pages when needed for other emphasis.

  5. I only write with my Kaweco Sport fountain pen, so everything will be in blue of black, depending on what ink I'm using. I find too much colour distracting, so like to keep things simple. I do use coloured pages, but it's very random as it will depend on which sheet I grab from my FC storage binder.

  6. I love color...the more the better. I color-code tasks by category (home, errands, financial, etc). In other parts of my planner, I just use all different colors for variety. Colored ink is my version of "pretty planning". I'm a pen junkie as well as a paper junkie, so I have lots of pens and inks to use up.

  9. It's almost always black ink for me. I wish I had adopted colour coding of the leaves in my work slimline organiser though - one colour for my employer and others for the clients. Perhaps this post will spur me on to do the redrafting that would be needed.

  10. I used colored pens randomly. Which ever one I happen to pick up, just to make my pages colorful and pretty.

  11. I use fountain pens with my planners. Currently using Pilot Kosumosu iroshizuku in my A5 work planner because the cherry blossom pink is so pretty. In my Personal I am using Kaweco Palm Green for the same reason. Will use these until they run out, and then I will switch to some of the other inks I have on hand.
