Free For All Friday - No. 609 by Steve

It has been a strange year in a lot of ways. I know people started the year with new plans, different jobs etc All of this has been frustrated in some way or other.

There are people that haven't been able to settle in to their planner for the last 3-4 months. Filofax UK have got some great offers on at the moment for diary inserts for 2020, if you are still unsure about what insert to use, or you fancy a change for the remaining six months of 2020, may be a different layout or a different size. It's a cheap way of trying out a different insert.

Take a look on their site and use the promo code HOTDEAL

What insert are you using this year?

As it is Friday don't forget you can discuss anything relevant here.

Have a great weekend.

  1. I keep looking longingly at the A5 Original Portfolio in Raspberry. Yet at £75 is a tad expensive for a notebook. Only looking because the pen loop on my A5 pink Flex recently broke. Have temporarily bought some sticky on pen loops from Amazon to replace it. They are small but strong and fit any size of pen, even huge Colettos. Anyone bought a Filofax Original Folio? Would love your thoughts and impressions having used it. TIA.

    1. Repairing the stretch loop on the Flex pen holder is easy enough. Superglue carefully squeezed into the slot before inserting the elastic and pressing until dry, will do the trick!

  2. Thanks Tim!! A bit scardy pants of super glue I must admit!! Honestly, even the smallest DIY job with me turns into BIY, Bodge it yourself!!

  3. For several years I've been using the A5 WO1P with notes for work. I am very fortunate to have retained my job although we work from home FT now instead of just 2 days a week. There are a few tweaks with the job now that I wanted to accomodate in my planner. Last week I printed my own inserts using a heavily edited version of Philofaxy's WO2P Enhanced TM with Journal pdf. Font and color change, removed Sat/Sun to make bigger boxes for M-F, changed the titles for the Notes/Reminders, Communications, Coming Up boxes to better suit my daily/weekly tasks. This was the first full week of use, and I had a good time with the new format. While I like the Filofax inserts, they really aren't fountain pen ink friendly for the most part. These new inserts are on Clairefontaine paper (thank you Amazon Germany) which hold the ink beautifully.

  4. Thanks for the Clairefontaine paper recommend. I too have tweaked Philofaxy inserts, and systems, in my case for my A6, to better suit my needs and am thrilled with my planner this year. Planner peace is much nearer. Just keep dithering over which pens to use now, and whether to colour code or not. Still not quite there with that bit, but love my planner size and contents this year. Thanks to Steve and Ray Blake for the designs. xx
