    1. Do you have any good links about it? I've not heard of that one before.

    2. Here is wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zettelkasten

But there are sites dedicated to the method if you search on the term. It was made famous by Niklas Luhmann https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niklas_Luhmann who was an extremely prolific 20th Century academic. His productivity is attributed to the system.

The key points as I understand them are that each note is atomic and has an ID. You then reference other notes from the note you are making (a bit like hyperlinks or even blockchains!) You do not categorise, although Luhmann used brief starting pages with lists of starting notes. The notes link together in a kind of chain or multiple chains, and in effect form organic note "stories". Luhmann would pull out all notes that were referenced or linked together and follow them through to create academic papers.

It seems to be a useful way of handling large amounts of information in today's information rich society and reminds me of what Filofaxes were originally designed for.

    3. this is an informative article about the method. I think it lends itself to file boxes and index cards, which could easily be changed to a ring binder. https://medium.com/@rebeccawilliams9941/the-zettelkasten-method-examples-to-help-you-get-started-8f8a44fa9ae6
