Today Filofax officially launched their Centennial Collection.
The Centennial Collection features a special edition of the The Original organiser that includes a new dated diary fill in a minimal layout, golden rings, gold coloured stitching and a bespoke popper cap celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Filofax.
The Original is 'crafted' in UK and is available in charcoal, blush and sky shades and are available in A5, Personal and Pocket sizes.
The A5 and Personal size have slightly bigger rings than normal.
Included in the collection are a range of 'Centennial Accessories' which include a roller ball pens, planning stickers and a miniature keyring organiser based on the Original design with a small paper pad inside.
750 of each size of organiser have been made and will be sold across all of the different Filofax sites across the world including Filofax UK.
Filofax kindly sent me a Pocket size in 'Sky' along with the accessories.
I am surprised that there is no collector's boxed set for this huge anniversary. Grace Scurr was 75 and the Eton set was 85 (?). Maybe they felt they would not sell?

DeleteIt looks great and I love the pen and the keyring, but overall it's hardly a patch on the Grace Scurr from the 75th anniversary. Such a shame that Filofax don't feel there's a market for a more traditional organiser.
ReplyDeleteNot much excitement in this for me personally, but probably they’ve pitched this collection quite accurately at their main target market.
ReplyDeleteOn the UK website the personal sized centennial original is priced at £110, compared to £71 for a standard original (although some colours are currently on sale for less). I see this particular (personal) centennial model features larger rings - 25mm rather than the standard 23mm.
The 100 logo is nice, with its styling of an infinity symbol that also holds a subtle suggestion of the metal rings.
The text that lists the binder features is unusually precise in referring to the stamped numbering as debossed rather than embossed!
The web site doesn’t currently mention or depict those stamped numbers.
ReplyDeleteI wondered why the limitation for a 100th anniversary was chosen as 750 of each.
Guess it was driven by the expected sales volume.
As others have commented, it seems a shame that Filofax couldn’t produce something of real and lasting quality. The Chester models would have been a better starting point, in my view. A limited edition colour would have been enough to draw me in - maybe British Racing Green, with that nice 100 logo foiled inside. The popper and stationery would be fine in that context, but as it is, there’s nothing here of interest to me.

ReplyDeleteWas really hoping for something with a bit more professionalism and elegance. I don't need another Original and, quite frankly, am tired of everything being pastel, pink or blue. Overpriced.
ReplyDeleteI think the charcoal color is classy especially with gold 30mm rings and gold stitching. A totally new color. I'm excited to receive mine and hoping it is as special as I see it to be. The pricing is definitely a little high. I'm very curious about the new minimalist inserts as well.
ReplyDeleteI received my personal Centennial organizer in charcoal earlier this week - it’s a very attractive piece, the stitching looks much nicer than in the pics above, and the new inserts are a huge improvement imo.
