  1. Hello, My question is a printing one... please is there an easy way to scale the Annual Z fold in A4/A5 to a Z fold for pocket rings? I have both A4 and A5 paper so can use either one that's easier.

    Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Nikki
There's no magic scaling factor to go from A4 to Pocket as it's not a standard ISO size.

Download the Word File and change the table height to say 105-110mm high, print it on A4 paper without scaling it. Then cut the resulting print at 120mm (pocket height) and trim it to length. Allowing a little bit of a margin on the right hand end. Then fold at 81mm from the left, then fold again either to the edge or where ever it ends up.

If you get stuck just contact me direct and we can try and work it out.

  2. Hi there. I'm looking to purchase my first filofax and I'm just wondering if it's worth waiting to purchase, or should I just go ahead? I have changed roles and my current planner doesn't fit my needs, hence why I'm looking at a filofax. I notice there's a few sales on them at the moment, but will they get even cheaper towards the end of the year?

    1. Before you dive in to buy your first Filofax, take a moment to work out what size you need.
      Ask your self these questions
      1. What size is my current planner, is there an equivalent Filofax size?
      2. Does it need to be bigger or smaller?
      3. Do you need to carry it everywhere you go?
      4. Will you be writing in it at a desk or in your hand (Bigger in your hand is quite difficult! )
5 Is the overall weight and size important.

To help you decide, cut out some paper in the Filofax sizes you are considering and fill up those pages with a hand drawn diary insert (same as you are using now may be) Then work out is this size too big, too small etc. This exercise might only take you an hour or two, but it might save you from buying the wrong size.

There are generally sales through out the year these days. But if there's something you like at the right price, buy it...

      I hope that helps

    2. 1. My current planner is B5, I don't believe there is an equivalent.
      2. I don't mind smaller but don't want bigger.
      3. I do need to carry it everywhere.
      4. Both
      5. No, I can deal with the size and weight.
I want a filofax as I can tailor my pages to fit my need, which my current B5 ring bound planner doesn't allow for. I'm looking for a day to page schedule, with a to do section included, and then a separate notes section. At the minute I'm juggling a B5 planner and a separate notebook and it's not working!

    3. B5 is the same size as Deskfax size, although getting inserts for that size and actual organisers isn't that easy these days. The Philofaxy diary inserts are all scalable to B5 size though with it being an ISO size.
A5 would most probably be an easier size to buy and get inserts for as there are plenty to choose from.
Something like a Filofax Finsbury or Lockwood would most probably meet your needs for being able to write in your hand as they have some form of stiffening in the covers. The Holborn A5 would also be a good choice.
Insert wise there's quite a few to choose from.
