  1. Hi there (and I tried to post this once before but I'm not sure it worked, so sorry if this is a repeat!) - I'm new to the world of Filofax and want to purchase something from the current range suited for a man in a conservative profession that is the closest thing available to the organisers from the Filofax "glory days" of the 1980s/90s. Does anyone have a recommendation? Thanks for your thoughts!

    1. Keep watching out Adspot page for organisers for sale:
      https://philofaxy.blogspot.com/p/adspot.html

There's an A6 Mulberry on there at the moment that might be suitable.

    2. Thank you Steve, very kind of you to reply! Though I think I'd prefer to buy new rather than vintage. Is there anything in the currently available Filofax range that you might recommend based on the criteria in my original post?

    3. The Heritage personal size models are very close to 1980s designs.

  2. Too late for the first edition of fILE of fACTS, but I think I’ve uncovered another Filofax address.
I found a diary front page for 1985 (produced in 1984) that says “Published by Norman & Hill Ltd, London, E18 1BY”. This is close to South Woodford tube station.
The following year’s diary mentions the site in Ilford that we already knew about.

    1. Thanks for this Max, I was in that area this last summer! We went past that area a few times as well! It looks like an old 1950's industrial unit.

    2. Could you please send me a scan of that page and I will add it to our previous post about office locations here: https://philofaxy.blogspot.com/2019/01/filofax-addresses.html
      Thanks

  3. I have a printing related question. Is there a blank word document / template available into which I can type / copy etc such that it will print out in personal size on A4 paper, double sided? Ideally the single sheet of A4 will result in four personal sides / pages being printed across two 'leaves'.

I've tried editing some of the templates here and on "my life all in one place" but I just can't get it to print / format correctly.

    1. Is it that when you print double sided the pages are slightly out of alignment? If this is the problem it's quite a common issue with the accuracy of printers when double side printing.

Any mis-alignment is amplified when you are printing boxes/tables on both sides of the sheet that should be on top of each other. You wouldn't notice any misalignment if it was just text.

You could try manually turning the paper over and printing the page twice that way you rule out any mis-feeding of the paper when it is going through the duplexer.

A simple page template is easy to create, just a two cell table centralised in the middle of the page horizontal and vertical. Make the cell size 171 x 95mm, set the cell margins to 5mm top and bottom, left to 14mm right to 5mm And the opposite way around on the following page to allow for the rings.
Save that document and then use it as a your start point.

  4. I have a question about the Malden. Is it bonded leather?

    1. I found out that it is top grain leather.

  5. I meant full grain. Can all of this be deleted?
