It's always great to be surprised when you open a package and the item is even better than you thought it would be.
Sometimes they are models I've never seen before, sometimes only pictures of them in the catalogues.
So what is the cheapest organiser you have ever bought? But it was one that was not a disappointment, in fact you were pleasantly surprised by it?

Pocket 6 ring planner from Paperchase for £3 in the sale. The cover was black and white striped which made my vision go blurry so I coloured in some of the white spaces. I used this planner for years as a wallet with plastic sleeve credit card pockets for my store cards and a few pages at the back for expense record keeping. It didn’t make me look sophisticated or necessarily my age 35, but it was so handy. I kept a separate coin purse in my bag. Now I use a separate personal size filofax for diary /notes / record keeping and my wallet has space for store cards and coins all in one.
ReplyDeleteOver the years my handbags have got smaller. My daughter is 10 years old now and I don’t need to hold so many of her things so my handbag is smaller and my wallet is smaller. I do have the paperchase wallet stored in my collection just in case I want to reuse it someday.
I bought a Filofax pocket Butterfly- the leather version in gray, for a couple of pound!

ReplyDeleteI first bought it from eBay in 2014, when I'd never really heard of the model, & the photos on the listing weren't the best, but I decided to risk it for a very low bid & I won... After a good clean & leather conditioner, I realised that I'd got myself a wonderful bargain.
My green personal Windsor which was in near mint condition when I got it for 25€.

ReplyDeleteI fairly recently got 5 simple Filofax binders on eBay for £8 including postage. It turned out that three were Norman & Hill models from the 70s and the other two from the 80s. So all as fine as I could have hoped.

ReplyDeleteA few days ago I found a A5 size binder abandoned in the trash, with calendar pages from 2005. It was dirty and the leather was dry, but I gave it a good cleanup and conditioning, and now it looks pretty good. Dark brown, and stamped into the leather is "Dopp Accessories Collection/Satin Cowhide "

ReplyDeleteI'm actually a pocket-sized user for everything, even as a wallet. But in order to outsource notes/information that I don't have to carry with me all the time, I was looking for a used and not too expensive Filofax in leather in Personal.
ReplyDeleteAnd instead I found a Connaugt for only €10 and a Winchester with even two gusseted pockets for €20. The Winchester came with lots of old paper inserts, maps, pockets and also a fully working solar calculator (with cm/inch and holes on both sides) - both Filofaxes in very good condition.
Well I'm sitting here, looking at the two black and beauty pieces, fondling them - and don't dare to use them ðŸ˜.
I called them "the tough and the tender" 🙂.
After I got annoyed about the sometimes poor quality of newer Filofaxes, I'm over very enthusiastic about the great quality of the old ones.
