Free For All Friday - No. 749 by Steve

I try to keep my email inboxes under control with no more than 20-30 emails in each one at any one time. About once a week I go through them and delete and archive emails I've already actioned/read.

Therefore imagine my horror when I woke on Thursday morning to discover 272 emails from Google informing me of Philofaxy posts that contravened their community guidelines on Blogger!!!

Most were Web Finds posts, all of them had been reverted to Draft. I was able to take a look at them to see what could be upsetting the Google AI. I was able to narrow it down to one or two sites that it wasn't happy with.

I've been gradually working through them editing them and resubmitting them for checking and hopefully being republished.

It will keep me busy for a few days!!

As always as it is Friday, feel free to discuss anything Filofax related.

  1. Hello Steve,
I have approx. 60 Travel inserts for Filofax and Lefax. They are mainly maps but also 'Time Out' and 'The Economist' travel guides. Cumulatively, they date from 1985 to 1994 and are concerned with cities in UK, USA (all designated maps incl. 'British Filofax system'), Canada, and all maps for Europe except Moscow.
Also there is an Economist city guide for Tokyo.
    No Australia inserts, however.
Are there likely to be any rarities in this collection?
    With Thanks.

    1. Quite possible. I have a few examples of the Time Out guides myself, but as they were published by Time Out not Filofax, I've not scanned them in and shared them. I only have permission to do that for Filofax Catalogues and brochures

  2. I've been using a digital planner (pdf & annotation app) and love it, but, as per usual, I'm missing my Filofax. Will I ever NOT want to change things up with my planners?! :D

  3. Lately I've been planning digitally (pdf, app, and tablet), but am missing my Filofax! I'm wondering if I will ever stick with one thing. Maybe I should just use them both at the same time!

  4. Quick update. Those who were on the Skype call this month will know that I have been experimenting with using my Lockwood Personal Slim as a satellite to my rather large A5 work system.

    Well......it really works. I mean......it REALLY works!

To my surprise I now find myself taking this little gem almost everywhere and wondering if I could move even more functionality across.

And best of all, it fits in my jacket pocket.

    1. I’m so glad to hear this Steve. My slim just arrived this Sunday morning in the mail (Details at the next monthly Virtual Meet-up). I’m reviewing my options and possible forms for medical treatments over the next few months. I do not want to carry an A5, nor bulky pockets and personals. A Compact(s) and/or Slim(lines) are small enough for a tiny bag without the bulk. -Jessie

    2. Sounds good! personally I can't manage the "one life on planner" idea, I found it to be about as realistic as going everywhere in my pyjamas (which in theory should be fine, right - one life, one set of comfy clothes!). Much more fun to tailor the tools to the task.

    3. I'm so glad to hear that, David! Sounds great as I know that you've battled with the A5 portability for some time, so wonderful that the Lockwood is really working for you.

    1. That's horrifying! And I admit to it also being absolutely mind-boggling, as to what they could find offensive (insert one's own personal "modern life/culture/kids today" grumbles here lol). As a semi-silent lurker most of the time, may I express heartfelt gratitude for keeping this beacon respectful conversation & knowledge afloat. I know there's far more work to it than most people imagine. Thank you.
