Free For All Friday No. 878 by Laurie

Recently I was inspired by this man (what-dan-read.com) who kept a list of the thousands of books he read, for decades. This year I've been much better about actually completing books, instead of picking them up and putting them down indefinitely. I thought keeping a list of the books I've read would be a nice record of my accomplishments in actually finishing books, and show how my interests develop over time.

I had been keeping notes of the books I read in whatever bullet journal notebook I was using at the time, but this caused my book notes to be buried in my daily pages and scattered among several different notebooks. Instead I have created a Filofax tabbed section for Books Read, with my list at the front, and pages behind for notes on each book. Sometimes I read several books with a similar theme, and it will be interesting to see how my perception of that theme changes as I read more. Keeping all my book notes together for easy comparison also may uncover other topics or connections between books or ideas that I otherwise might not have thought of.

I'll keep my Books section in my current-use Filofax, then at the end of the year I'll archive it into a storage binder where I can keep my book lists and notes year after year, similar to how Nan keeps tabbed archival sections.

Do you keep a list of books you've read, and/ or notes on books you're reading? Do you keep them in your Filofax, or someplace else?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss anything Filofax related!

  1. I use a personal size page as a bookmark as I read a book. Then once I finish it, I write a one pge book review along with a score out of 5 stars. I keep all my reviews together. I've got a list of books I'm looking for/or want to read, in one of my binders

  2. I do keep a list, but it's a Google Sheet (excel spreadsheet) so I can find stuff easier and if I'm repeating a title, it pops up.
