This year we (finally) were able to remodel our kitchen, and have several other house projects on the go. So of course I had to create a section in my Filofax about it!
I have a page for each room in the house that we are planning to work on, and the outside of the house and property. On each page I have a list of all the things we want to do in that area, short term and longer-term. Some things have lead-up actions, like choosing and acquiring paint or other materials before actually doing the work.
I have to admit, having it all on paper in front of me felt a little overwhelming at first, but it helps to see what needs done and what we can take action on, and when. If the weather is good, we can spend some time over the weekend repairing the gate or painting the fence. If it's raining, we can work on something inside instead. Little by little, our house will be transformed!
I'm also keeping records of what materials we used: the names of the paints, the companies where we ordered our kitchen counter and tiles, and everything else we use so I can find it again later if I need.
Do you keep track of house projects in your Filofax? Any tips for me?
And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss anything Filofax related!
My regular eBay trawl found a mildly amusing item today; a Personal Berwick, containing a manual for a 1993 BBC Micro software title called 'Almanac', which appears to have been a software filofax... diary, calendar, address book, to do list, anniversary reminder, etc. Sounds like the facilities provided by a Psion 3, though that was always 'active', providing autonomous reminders.
ReplyDeleteIronic to have a manual for an electronic organiser provided in a paper organiser...
This is a new one to me, I had no idea the BBC Micro covered such sophisticated areas! There has been some discussion here of Portex lately, I wonder if there is any developmental link.
DeleteI think i still have.a copy of Lotus Organiser somewhere, although I doubt Windows 11 would be up to the task of running it. Another rainy day project for the list!
It may have been for the Archimedes; that's the only reference Google finds. 1993 would be well into Archimedes era (1987 onwards). I wondered if someone had simply cut up & punched a manual to fit a binder, but then realised the binder had embossed branding...
