  1. I started the repair of my 3CL, which involved sticking the backplate back in place. That seemed to go all right 'by eye' until I looked a bit closer once the glue had set, and found it was a bit skew. Fortunately, I managed to peel it off again and remove the adhesive (I used a rubbery impact adhesive). The next attempt will use measure index marks and some mean of fixing whilst the glue sets.

In the meantime, I also need to figure out how wide the 'inner spine' should be. I removed all the original fabrikoid, and am replacing with thin pigskin. The fabrikoid covered the ring mechanism backing plate, and extended a little under the pocket/inner face leather on each side.

If anyone has a 3CL they can look at, and measure the width of the fabrikoid inner spine (best seen looking at the cut edges at top & bottom of the binder), I would be grateful. You should probably be able to see where the three-layer sandwich becomes two-layer in the sewn pockets. Thanks.

    1. Hi Kevin
I have a 3CL that is in decent shape (unlike a 3KL I own which is mashed). Mine is 18.7cm long top to bottom measuring from the inside.

    2. And the width I can see from the inside is 1.9cm. With 4mm visible on either side of the base of the rings.
I’m not sure what you mean about a three layer sandwich becoming a two layer one.
However on the left side after the fabric is 4mm of leather before the stitching and on the right of the rings 5mm of leather before the stitching so it’s not quite symmetrical. I suspect the fabrikoid ends shortly after the stitches because it’s not needed once the leather is stitched in place but I can’t be sure.
