Philofaxy by numbers

In twenty years of Philofaxy being on the internet, we have some quite impressive statistics. 

• 6833 posts published, an average of 341 per year!
• 48,100 comments published, an average of 7 comments per post.  
• Over 27 million views since July 2010 (Unfortunately the stats don't go back earlier than this) 
• 5.5 Million views in the last 12 months.
• 1.7 million views of the Philofaxy Diaries page. 
• Most viewed catalogue - Filofax 1984
• Most viewed video on our YouTube channel - Changing the ring mechanism although I think the later video: Ring Mechanisms - Removing and Installing Krause Rings is a bit more detailed.

When did you discover Philofaxy?

We are going to run some more 'Virtual Meet Ups'.

When? - Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November 2025 at the following time:

• Los Angeles 8:00 am, 
• Denver 9:00 am
• Dallas 10:00 am, 
• New York 11:00am, 
• London 4:00 pm 
• Paris 5:00 pm etc.  

Join in on both days if you wish. 

Do not worry if you aren't available at the start of the session each one lasts 1-2 hours, so pop up when you are available and say hello.

Where? - an on-line chat using Signal. with voice and video (if you wish). If you aren't already in our participants list you need to contact Philofaxy before you come on line on the day of the chat. You can do this at any time. Please try to ensure that your Signal user name is the same as your actual name this will greatly assist in us being able to add you to the group. 

 

Because of unwanted people we are no longer able to give out a join here link. 

What do I need? - just a micro-phone and some head phones(in ear phones work fine) and a free Signal account. Using headphones or earphone reduces 'echo' on the call. Video is optional, but a most of us will be on video as well.

Who - Serious organiser users only.  We are no longer able to allow just anyone to join these chats due to the disruption caused by fake profiles on previous chats. You also need to be known to us in some way or other before we will permit you to join the chat.

Gift Ideas for Planner Lovers

 

I know Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, but it seems like every year around this time people start thinking about the upcoming holiday season and finding meaningful gifts for the people in their lives.

I don't know about you, but my favorite gifts are those that relate somehow to my planning habit. Those of us who carry our planners everywhere know that it’s not just about the binder and the paper, it’s about the little tools and rituals that make planning feel right to us. 

This year, I decided to get ahead of the game and make a list (maybe even check it twice) of thoughtful gifts that a planner enthusiast would actually appreciate, whether they’re a Filofax devotee, a ring-bound minimalist, or someone who just loves good paper or a fine pen. 

So, if you are going to be shopping for a planner lover (or are wanting to drop a few hints for yourself) here are some ideas I came up with:

A Pen That Feels Just Right

Whether it’s a Pilot Frixion Multi-pen, a Kaweco Sport fountain pen, or a humble Pentel EnerGel in a sleek barrel, planners know that the perfect pen can change everything. Bonus points if it actually fits in the Filofax pen loop! If the person you are shopping for is already into fountain pens, a nice new ink is always a nice gift idea as well.

Refills They’d Never Splurge on Themselves

There’s always that one layout or paper type we secretly admire but never justify buying (Cotton Cream, anyone?) A set of luxury refills in their preferred size is both practical and indulgent.

A Vintage Stationery Box

Put together a small box stocked with hole-reinforcers, sticky notes, page flags, book darts, maybe a good quality punch, etc. It’s the kind of collection most of us cobble together over time, but having a curated kit in a nice quality box makes everything inside feel so special.

A Gift Certificate to Their Favorite Shop

A gift card to Filofax, Etsy, JetPens, or Franklin Planner lets them choose exactly what they’ve been eyeing (and you don’t have to worry about getting them the wrong size or color).

A Planning Ritual Kit

A new mug filled with some colored pencils and a tin of tea, a scented candle and a nice notebook, you could even make them a planning-related playlist.  Set them up for a cozy, reflective planning session. Remember… planning isn’t just organization; it’s self-care!

Something Personalized

A custom dashboard, monogrammed dividers, a fancy name plate, or even a hand-lettered page marker makes a planner feel unique. It’s a simple gesture that says, “I see how much joy this brings you.”

The truth is the best gifts for planner people aren’t about stuff, they’re about supporting the little rituals that keep us grounded. Whether it’s turning a fresh page, refilling rings for a new year, or savoring that quiet moment with pen in hand… those are the things that make this hobby so special.

Planner peace 2025 - by Anita

Whilst listening to an excellent podcast about meditation, I started thinking about the similarities between meditation, martial arts and my Filofax use (possibly an unusual mix for some people!). When I've written about my version of planner peace here before, I've come to the conclusion that it's not a static goal or objective, so it's definitely a case of 'what is my current planner peace?' I'm not doing any martial arts currently (hopefully I'll return at some point), but when I used to talk about this, it would always be phrased as practice and I've realised that it's the same for when I use my Filofax. 

As I'm using my Filofax every day, that's a practice too as that regular action helps me understand what works or potentially isn't working for me right now. Yes, I have been mainly using my GTD set up for many years, but I suppose I'm not looking for a final and forever more version that has to be perfect and done with, if that makes sense? It's more about what's working for me and sometimes imperfect and being used is better, rather than getting stuck with trying to get it just so. 

So, my version of planner peace right now (here's my 2024 update) is to own two Filofaxes, and if at some point in the future I fancy a change then I will sell one of these. I've recently purchased a lovely vintage one (another post to come), which I love as much as my faithful Kensington, so I'm feeling pretty content right now. In my previous FFAF , I mentioned about thinking about a layout change, but moving into my new to me organiser plus a tidy up and review seems to have done the trick thankfully.

As with my meditation or martial arts practice, my Filofax use has changed over time as I have more life experience or changes to my situation, and I look to consider ways that it can help and support me right now. Sometimes I might open it up and go, "Ugh" and that means it's time for a review, or maybe it's not the organiser at all and I just need to get outside.
