Free For All Friday No 938 by Laurie

Recently we had a power outage that lasted only about 20 hours, but where I live they happen with some regularity and sometimes for a long time. (One November a few years ago the power was out for nine days. That was a lot of time staying warm by the woodburning stove, and food cooked outside in the snow on the barbecue!)

When the power is out, we also lose phone and internet connectivity, which is annoying and frustrating. Being forced to live analog always makes me appreciate how much of my life I still live offline, by choice and through some effort.

This time it made me realise how I've been relying a little more on digital services than I have in the past. It's mostly little things, like keeping ideas for gifts on my notes app instead of in my Filofax. I'm thinking now about things I can keep in or move to my Filofax to keep them accessible no matter what.

I keep an updated list of medications and any ongoing medical things in my Filofax in addition to important contacts and numbers. I'm trying to think of anything else that would be useful in an emergency.

Meanwhile the news is warning us of another approaching storm, so I can look forward to reading my paper book and recording everything in my Filofax by candlelight and headlamp again!

What do you keep digitally that would be lost if you no longer had access to it online? What might be useful to back up in your Filofax (or elsewhere on paper)?

And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss anything Filofax related!

Have a good weekend everyone!
