Losing weight

As we approach the end of August, we start on to the last three months of the year and the usual seasonal festival of retail madness.... we won't mention the C word!

I would think a few of you will be starting to get appointments and events starting to crop up in 2016. Ray and I have done all the inserts for 2016 for you to download and print, I've not printed mine yet [Adds it to his to-do list!].

I was sorting through my 'man bag' this morning and it is rather dominated by my faithful and trustee Van der Spek 'Touch Me' Standard (personal) organiser, which I have been using continuously since April.

During the last 4-5 months it has led a hard life and as you can see it is rather stuffed! However, with 30mm rings it was rather asking to be stuffed! It has lots of additional notes and information in it from our big trip during June and July. It has various notes and things I was given stuffed in the pockets!

I need to sit down and sort through it and it is time to start archiving a few items to lighten the weight and to make room for some 2016 inserts....

What about you? When do you start thinking about the next year?

  1. I have been thinking about this for the last couple of weeks. I have been struggling with my system and feeling unsettled the last wee while and have been contemplating changing my set-up. My (personal Chameleon) Filofax feels too full, but I have less info in it than I had last year! That being said, I probably won't change too much - just a few tweaks here and there. I've been perusing all the 2016 inserts which you and Ray have provided (thank you!) and have a couple of ideas in mind for additional inserts to my usual ones. Knowing how indecisive I am, it will probably be October when I finally print off pages for next year.

  2. I've done that (in my case with the VAT tax form) - thinking that September marks the the last quarter of the year - when in fact we've still got FOUR months to reach our 2015 goals! Losing weight is one of these (me, not my organiser!). In my line of work (UK visitor accommodation) thoughts turned to 2016 several weeks ago (winter refurbishment, prices, advertising etc). Personally, I don't tend to think of buying dated inserts until November and then switch them in and streamline/ file pages between Christmas and New Year. I've never understood buying them several months ahead! However, this week, I was in a stationery store and watched a sales person from Collins removing most of the unsold 2015-6 academic year diaries and replacing them with full 2016 versions. This seemed odd to me given that English and Welsh schools don't return for another three or four weeks and universities don't start until the very end of September. Surely, this is the very time that people would want to buy academic year dated items?

  3. For work I need to be able to plan ahead at least 12-14 months, so my binder already contains the yearly fold-out planners for 2016 and 2017. Also, I like to have my weekly pages for the coming 6 months in advance, so yes, January and February 2016 are already ´in´ (although I would prefer to change my pages in the way described by Tim -> between the years, going through everything... sadly this just does not work for me).
The flexibility is what makes Filofax (style) binders probably the best option for me - when I tried to use bound books it was always very difficult to find solutions for the `forward planning problem´.

  4. Have got my official 2016 week on 2 pages last week on holidays for 12 Euros. Best price I've seen them for.

  5. I have the 2016 printed both for me and my daughter. Many thanks to you and Ray for making this possible. I can not get these where I live other than online at great expense. I am truly grateful to you for providing these inserts.
This year I am going from a pocket to personal. I have several months in the binder now and yes, there are several appointments, concerts and other events marked already.

  7. I only print my week-on-2-pages one month at a time, so probably in December I'll start doing January. I only keep my tabbed month on two page spreads in until the end of the year for future planning (any dated type appointments and events) and use a large post-it for forward planning tasks

  8. I just designed and printed my A5 2016 MO4P pages this morning (still need to cut and punch). I carry anywhere from 9-15 months, depending on the time of year. I'm trying something different for this upcoming academic year.

The A5 monthlies are going to be in their own set of spiral rings - I'm using the GBC ProClick system that is shown here so I can still change pages in and out:

Monthly is the only place I need to see work and personal stuff together, and Personal is just too small. Depending on if this setup works, I'll probably pick up a leather Flex.

Family tasks are going to be in a Personal or Compact - still deciding on WO1P + notes, or WO2P, as I have both to choose from.
