'To Instagram' : To take random photographs of your organisers and anything else you enjoy and then share them with the world.
Well may be not! At first I didn't see the attraction of Instagram, firstly the picture format was square and unless you hadn't noticed, most of the things we use are not square but rectangular! So I signed up for an account and then didn't really use it for some time.
That changed about 12 months ago, I cleared out the random photos I had on my account and decided to give it another try. I tend to think of the photos as random 'snaps' of things I'm currently using or writing about. I've been trying to get more creative, rather than trying to take that 'perfect' photograph each and every time.
I've never used any of the filters in the application, I prefer my photos to be as they are, not distorted in some way.
Quite often I will post a teaser photo about forthcoming blog posts on Instagram to build up the anticipation.

ReplyDeleteI proudly own 37 Filofax, and Instagram is to blame. Two years ago I didn't even know what a Filofax was, although I've been collecting planners for 30 years. I've got my personal account @anitacayetana and my planner related @crazyaboutplanner
ReplyDeleteI'm @thestoragestudio and use it as my main way of communicating how I'm using my planners. I just recently found you too 😜
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your Instagram account, Steve! Instagram is my favorite social media platform because I'm a very visual person. Like many others have already mentioned, it's a huge enabler and my collection has grown as a result as well. ;-) It's also reignited my love of photography so in addition to sharing my favorite pens, planners, and geek stuff, I try to take creative shots as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve, for another timely post. I love Instagram, but mainly as a voyeur. I love looking at everyone's planners, pages, etc. I have very few pics up on mine, tho. I don't have the time, I think of it when I'm in the shower or I'm just plain lazy! But making better use of (some) of the social media sites (mainly Insta and Pinterest) is one of my objectives this year. I'm @aimlessallee everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI Instagram! Like you, I started half heartedly with a mix of random family and quasi-fashion photos. But then I found the planner community and the rest is history (a few dozen Filofaxes, gillios, MTN, and hobonichis later). I enjoy sharing, and really credit IG with daily bits of inspiration and as well as providing me with the larger impetus to get back to paper planning and writing. @cecicat
ReplyDeleteHi Steve, I just started Instagram with just one post at @MicheleC430. I actually follow a bunch but I need to learn how to do it properly myself.
ReplyDeleteI am @kanaltwellplannedlife. I don't post ass often as I would like but I try to pop on at least once a day.
ReplyDeleteBAH! *as* often, not ass, lol. Sorry!
DeleteI love instagram and it is my primary source for planner inspiration and info! I'm @krafty808
ReplyDeleteI'm embarrassed to say - but I can't figure it out? In the help section - it states there is a camera photo to upload your pics - I don't have that? I can't find it? I am pathetic -needless to say - I recently tried (as of five days ago) and it was a big fail? Am I the only one who can't figure it out?

On your smartphone? Or computer?
Deletecomputer....
DeleteI find that Instagram doesn't really work (especially for uploading) from the computer. It's much easier and more intuitive on a smart phone or tablet. (This is not to say it can't be done from a computer, but I can't figure out how to upload from there.)
DeleteI love Instagram for all the feedback, ideas and inspiration

I'm like you Steve, had an instagram account for a long time, never really used it. Then recently I ordered some stickers for my filofax from an Etsy shop that I found via instagram (can't remember how exactly since I didn't use it at the time...😩) but when I saw people posting photos of their 'happy mail' I thought that looks fun, since I order quite often from Etsy & its lovely to show off your lovely new purchases, while giving the shop some publicity. A month or two later & its my new favourite social media! My tag is @sarah.mccabe12321 I'd love you & anyone else who's interested to follow me. ☺🌈🌞🌟
