Free For All Friday No 603 by Laurie
Since I've had extra time on my hands lately, I've started brushing up on my Russian. I learned a decent amount of Russian when I lived there (more than a decade ago) and I had a private tutor. I've forgotten most of it, but was pleasantly surprised to discover how much resurfaced when I started using a language learning app.
I learn best when I write things down, so I wanted to create a language-learning notebook. It seemed natural to use one of my A5 Filofax binders for this. I can create sections for vocabulary, verb conjugations, and sentence writing practice, and add to each section as needed.
Have you been using your Filofax for any new purposes lately?

Enhanced Time Manager Week on One Page A5 Diary Insert - Update
A few weeks ago I shared this new insert with you. I have been using it myself for the last 3-4 weeks and I've done a few minor adjustments to the layout to improve it.
This is what it now looks like:
The obvious difference is that the Notes/Reminders section has more lines. Additionally the 'Time' column is now wider, I was struggling with my writing/scrawl to write times in to those boxes!
Naturally you can easily adjust the headings, shading, fonts etc to suit your own needs/requirements by editing the source file and redoing the mail merge.
Source Files:
You can download finished versions for this year from our diary inserts page.
To customise the files you will need to download the relevant source files listed above. When you've made all the changes you like to the template, you can perform a mail merge to create your own insert for any period you like. Check out our Free Diary Inserts link if you want more information on how to do this, including videos at the bottom of the page.
Once again a big thank you to Ray at 'My Life All In One Place' for his hard work and co-operation with helping to create and support us with all these inserts.

Source Files:
- Word file and Excel File (you will need both)
Note to change the year or the 12 months covered you just need to edit cell A2 of the Excel file.
You can download finished versions for this year from our diary inserts page.
When printing note these files are formatted to be A4 page size. Either Booklet print on to A4 paper or Print on to A5 paper scale to fit (70%)
This version will be known as the 'Week on one page Enhanced TM' insert

How Many?
I've just done an 'audit' of my full collection this past weekend. There is a very important matter to address when assessing the size of your 'collection'.
Now you might think how many is that.... eleven across by six down, sixty six, but there is only 21.251 really.
How did I manage to get to that number? Let me explain in more detail with the aid of this table.
My photo of the full collection above doesn't make it easy to work out the relative size of each organiser, but they divide in to the different sizes as shown in the second column of the table.
Looking in the third column you will see I have used A4 as being '1' and then each size below A4 has an 'Equivalent Value' scaled from the page size with a slight 'fudge' factor to allow for Compact and Slimline having smaller rings... hmmm I need to introduce a similar fudge factor for 'Compact A5' to get my 'Philofaxy Value' even lower!.
I digress.... You then multiple the Number Owned by the Equivalent Value to get the Philofaxy Value and then just add up all of those values in the final column to get the Total Philofaxy Value for your whole collection.
Yes, I know 66 is a silly high number to admit to owning, but I did buy the first one in 1986 over 34 years ago.... that equates to less than two a year... 1.941 actual organisers per year, on average. We will not plot the actual growth of the collection over the years, especially in the last 10-15 years!! I like the figure of less than two a year!
If you want to find out what your Philofaxy Value is click here. (Excel file). The original idea for this unit of measurement goes back several years to an earlier post.

We have been 'broadcasting' since February 2016, with 100 episodes published already and a few more in the pipeline to be recorded in the coming weeks as time allows.
The podcast is now available on Spotify and Google Podcasts, in addition to the usual sources. So what every device or app you use, you should be able to find us. See the full list here, each one holds all of the previous episodes:
You don't have to go back to the first one, we have tried to make each one a complete episode and we attempt to avoid mentioning when it was recorded, so you can dip in to and listen to them in any order and listen to just the episodes that interest you.
We are giving Patrons some exclusive content and the ability to listen to new episodes a few days earlier than others. We will always keep them free to listen to generally. But the subscription income helps us to keep the podcast 'advert free' without advert breaks and annoying 'plugs' for non-relevant companies etc.
If you have any ideas for future episodes even if it is a topic we might have previously discussed please email podcast at philofaxy dot com and the email will find its way to Karine and Steve.
Thank you everyone for your continued support.
