I know we feature a lot of leather organisers and my own 'collection' is nearly all leather ones with only a couple of exceptions. But what about the non-leather organisers that are available?
Well there's quite a good selection. I have a favourite and I'm sure you might have one or two as well.
Some people don't like the idea that an animal was killed to supply its hide to be turned in to an organiser, jacket, handbag or shoes. I can respect their views, so I think it is right to look at the non-animal skin organisers.
Although we have some very good low priced leather organisers on Adspot and from various stores. Just for the moment think of all the non-leather Filofax organisers, which one would you choose?
Take a look on the Filofax UK site and tell us which you would choose, which model and which size.
I can only speak for what I have but I think the Domino it's my favorite until now. The day I get an Apex or a Metropol, wich it's not far away, I will be able to talk with more experience. For me the Domino it's really good, lays flat, bigger rings, it's not like you have be extra carefull with it even if it get his marks here and there. I love how it looks and how thin it is at the end of the day. The pockets work amazingly for me even as a wallet I can use it so...
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love my Metropol. The bright blue is gorgeous and it has held up much better in the last 6 months of use than my 3 month old leather one.

ReplyDeleteA few years ago I bought a lovely bronze, snakeskin effect A5 Domino from the Filofax site. I love it. I used it as my main organiser for 6 months, but the A5 size was too bulky. I use it to store notes in now, but for the price and the fact that its not real leather, it's a very glam filofax.
ReplyDeleteI don't like killing animals to make organisers and I was looking through the Filofax website the other day for a non leather Filofax. I love the red Metropol and I was aiming to buy that but then I saw the Ikat by Temperley and now I'm torn between the two. I'm still trying to decide which one I love the best. However, they are quite different so probably I can use them for different things, so I can get both!
ReplyDeleteAngeliki, I reviewed the Ikat Filofax, if you would like to see the details it's here:

Oh, cool! I haven't seen that. Thanks for the review, it's really helpful.
DeleteThe Logic Zip A5. Sturdy, robust, seemingly indestructable! Just monstrously big!
ReplyDeleteDomino Snake, Metropol in any colour (they really are quality, despite the price), the Mode. I am a leather snob and I love all of them!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the materials that pretend to be leather such as Metropol but really like the fabric ones such as the Songbird.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to non-leather I have a Personal Sketch in Chocolate, and a Pocket Domino in Ultra Violet. (Then again, I only have one leather one.) I hope that if I ever want an A5, that the Domino is still available.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm wary of is the elastic on the Dominos, otherwise, they're awesome. Easily my favourite readily available non-leather Filofax. I do love my Sketch, I'm just trying to think of a use for it other than storing spare notepaper.
Danni
It would either be a Jack vintage or Domino in personal size. I had a bronze A5 Domino snake which was fab, which I slightly regret selling now...
ReplyDeleteThe Songbird is lovely, but I wonder how well the fabric ones fare longer term?
I have a Graphic in grey (for sale in the addspots). I both it and used it for almost two years. You cannot see that it has been used for two years. Just look like new. Very good quality binder. The only think I have with the binder is the color. It is a grey one. Since I have a purple Malden, yellow Finchley and an antique rose Finsbury, I prefer color binders.
ReplyDeleteI have a Metropol in amber. I think the material is wonderful, if you are a person who tends to just throw your filofax in your bag. No scratches, what dirt there is I can just wipe off. Beautiful, durable, perfect.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Metropol, and the Domino is so practical, as well as having a simple, stylish design. I'm attracted to the fabric covered designs, but worry about them getting grubby.
ReplyDeleteI got the Sketch for my mom for Valentne's Day. It will be interesting to see what she thinks of it.
ReplyDeleteMetropol for sure. It's the only organizer that I truly love and will never trade/sell.
ReplyDeleteI've got a denim filo I am very fond of.

ReplyDeleteI've got a metropol A5 and i'm not ashamed to admit that i bought just because it was inexpensive. But then i fell in love with it and i bought a Metropol in personal size lavender, because the surface is fantastic to touch and i really really love it!
ReplyDeleteI own a Sketch in red personal size which is in daily use. The two tone and the ribbed cover makes the binder look really very nice. It is robust and goes everywhere with me. I also have a red Metropol personal size which is currently "resting" The none leather binders must surely be able to with stand scrapes etc cleaning must be easier.
ReplyDeleteI have a pocket Identity in Blue which I keep in the car,a personal Identity as my diary, and an A5 Identity in Black for storing information.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to buy another it would be an A5 Identity possibly Blue. They are smart looking and feel good to the touch.
I've never seen a non-black Identity before!
DeleteOne great thing about the Metropol which some you have mentioned is that is has two pen loops in the Personal size. Now which other models in personal size come with 2 pen loops in the current range?
ReplyDeleteI had a Metropol for one of the Filofax competitions last summer, it was given away as a prize along with some others but I was quite impressed by it. It comes in quite a range of colours too.
The A5 version is great value price too.
Steve
The graphic in personal size has also two penloops.
DeleteI purchased an A5 Domino in Violet last fall and really enjoy using it. The dimensions are roomy, but the faux leather makes for a lighter weight. As a devotee of all things purple, the color is perfect for me :)
ReplyDeleteI have an A5 Domino. I don't mind the non-leather material but am not a big fan of the 'suede' like interior or the color of the interior. It feels weird to me for some reason. But I do like the 'lightness' of the binder even when full. I also have a Personal Apex in grey. Not crazy about the material or the 'smell' of the vinyl but I only use it for storage. I do like the grey color with the turquoise trim, though.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I am thinking of buying an Apex or a Domino in A5, which one would you buy, and why? the Apex is $31 and the Domino is $50. thanks so much,
Deletecindy
The personal Identity has two elastic pen loops.
ReplyDeleteI have the Metropol in blue and LOVE it! I think the look of leather can be a bit "icky" for me, too much like skin (which it is, I know, but I just don't like the look of it). So I like that the Metropol doesn't really look like leather, but still has a leather-esque sheen to it. I think it's lovely, and although I've only had it a few months, it's still in perfect condition despite being hauled around in my traveling bag. Great value!
ReplyDeleteMy collection is all leather as well. But I've had the Domino, and the elastic on that stretched too far, and the suede just exploded. (: On looks alone, I personally like the Modes because I think they're fun and funky and the color combos are cute. And I feel like they'll hold up pretty well to handling on a daily basis. They also seem to be lower maintenance. I have yet to get my hands on one though, been eyeing one for years now.
ReplyDeleteI use a fabric covered organiser, and I have to say that they get dirty and ripped very easily, especially when owned by a busy person. I can understand the put-offs of having real leather, but they're much more durable.
