One of the many things I love about using a Filofax is being able to rotate planner pages in and out of my binder. I keep a couple of months' worth of past monthly pages for reference, but beyond that they go into my storage binder. I keep 13 months of monthly pages for forward planning. And I keep 5-6 months of weekly pages. Farther future pages are kept in my "on-deck" binder. I rotate pages monthly throughout the year so that I only have what I need in my binder at any given moment.
I love that everything in my binder is relevant to me right now. There's nothing old or irrelevant or out of date. I'm not stuck carrying around pages I don't need.
How often do you rotate pages in your Filofax? Do you do a big page-swap once or twice per year? Or like me do you rotate pages out more often?
And as always on Fridays, feel free to discuss/ ask anything ring-binder related!
I want to ask a question that is different than the proposed. For those of you who use the GTD method, can anyone recommend posts about it? The Amazing Anita exained her set up again, and for whatever reason, it clicked this time! So, of course I have read her post at least 50 times! I have also read the other posts on here at least 3 times!
ReplyDeleteAre there any good YouTube vids talking about weekly reviews or project planning that anyone is aware of? There are so many videos out there and discerning quality content from its opposite will take HOURS of watching. Looking forward to any suggestions!
Hi Jane. I have two or three posts about my own GTD system on here, and am always happy to talk about it if you email me. There are plenty of good resources on the Davidco site as well, some of which can be downloaded or accessed free of charge
DeleteFirst question: Saw the Amazon pilot "The Amazing Mrs. Maziel". Set in 1954. She carries a pink planner in her coat pocket. The cover has a star-type pattern done in what looks like white/light pink/darker pin stitching. Did a Google and came up with nothing. Does anyone have an idea as to what brand/model it could be?
ReplyDeleteSecond question: My morning commute is an hour and starts at 4:45 AM. The afternoon commute is an hour to 2 1/2 hours. I drive. No bus or train. I often come up with things I want to make a note of but obviously cannot write in my planner and drive at the same time. By the time I arrive at work or home I could very well have forgotten what seemed brilliant at the time. Due to California law about cell phones and driving, mine stays packed in my satchel during drive times. Anyone have a similar situation with a viable solution?
ReplyDeleteCall your voice mail using Bluetooth and transcribe it after.
Delete....or if you have an Android phone use the 'OK Google ' facility to wake it up and make a note in Evernote or another app. Then transcribe it as soon as you can. I use this allbrookes7@aol.co.uk the time to do a brain dump when I'm on a long drive
DeleteHey Siri, works for me... no button pressing required, just say 'Hey Siri' And then issue the instruction "Please take a note" and it asks me what should go in the note. Then transfer it to paper later.
DeleteI swap out some sections of my planner but the frequency depends on the level of detail. So, monthly inserts get swapped out once the new inserts arrive (around October) when I clear out the old ones and add in new ones. Week on 2 page inserts are much the same, but daily inserts get swapped out monthly to keep them currennt.
ReplyDeleteI swap some pages out as we go through the year. I also add in information pages if I'm going on a trip and remove them and store them later after I've come back. Those pages might be maps or booking information, confirmation of bookings, eTickets or what ever.
