What is the back part of the domino typically used for? The long horizontal cuts on the top and bottom seem like they’re for something specific. I don’t have experience with ring planners at all, but I just got the domino and I am very curious
ReplyDeleteI think it's for a notepad, or shopping list pad to slide the back card in to.
DeleteThe left hand set of pockets are credit cards, etc. The full height slip pockets in front and back are for anything that will fit in there; receipts, stickers, photos, etc. And there are thousands of 'flip through' videos on YouTube where people show what they put in their pockets...
DeleteI’m talking about the domino version specifically; there’s no credit card pockets. The flip throughs I’ve seen so far don’t show the back pockets. No need to condescend, this is a beginner friendly blog post.

DeleteThe Pocket and Personal Domino both have slanted, full-height pockets in front and back, and credit card slots in the front

The A5 version does have horizontal slots in the back. As Steve says, these must be intended to take an A5 notepad

Sad but inevitable news. I've just visited the retailer once known as WH Smith in Exeter and they now sell no Filofax binders, accessories or refills at all.
ReplyDeleteRapidly dwindling magazine section as well. The rest of the (fairly large) store seems to be full of novelty goods. Some books and greeting cards.

I was in TJ Jones the other day and was also disappointed by the paltry selection of Filofax inserts. I remember when even the tardiest Smiths would stock a full range of both Filofax and WHSmith refills.
ReplyDeleteIt got me thinking about all the independent organiser stores I used to visit around London, each with their own unique selection of stock including the Lefax shop on Shelton Street with all the inserts laid out on benches so that you could select what you wanted in your binder when you bought it.
Here in the US midwest you can't buy ringbound planners anywhere. You can find a good selection of spiral bound planners at Target or office supply stores.
