Regarding "Fit a Personal Insert in an A5 Binder": Folding over or cutting the top-left or bottom-left corner seems to be a common way to fit the inserts.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this would be by far my least preferred way. Cutting the corner violates the integrity of the sheet, and the asymetric fit still does not align top or bottom edges of both formats, so no benefit taken.
The options I see:
(1) Get an A5 ring planner with "Personal" ring spacing -> Problem erased.
(2) Punch the sheets centered with each of the two formats to get twelve holes, so the sheet fits centered. I think there is a Regur Holix that does these 12 holes.
(3) If by any means regular Personal sheets should be used in a standard A5 ring planner, I'd cut quarter-circles off the corners. That can be done by using a "Thumb Hole" aka "Half-Moon" punch.

To be fair to Neil, I don't think he was wanting to use Personal inserts in an A5 binder on a regular basis, so your Option #1 isn't relevant. He was merely suggesting a way that a Personal inserts can be put in to an A5 binder, on an impromptu , expedient basis; moving it from a Personal binder, for instance.
DeleteNeil isn't concerned with things like neat lines, page alignment, etc. I mean, he hand scrawls his daily layouts with a pen and no ruler, using the punched holes as rough guides. It works for him, which is what matters, even if it bothers those of us with more 'orderly' personalities...
Oh, I did not mean to comment that specific video or user. I just took the opportunity to address the topic in general.
DeleteI have seen and read that corner thing in different discussions recently, so I wanted to point out that there are other options.
