  1. Hi all, hope everyone's had a good start to the week :)

I'm wondering if anyone's had the pocket size Filofax Classic Croc in hand lately and has any comments on it they would flag to a prospective buyer. I'm currently in a pocket Saffiano (aquamarine, with matching Parker Jotter pen from their global icons collection). I've just landed a new role and "New job, new bag" is a phenomenon in my circles, but my bag is in good shape and the Filofax could use an upgrade.

Would love to know if the pocket Classic Croc is stiff enough to hold its own in a deep handbag, and if that back pocket is wide enough to hold an A4 page folded in three.

    Have a lovely week,

    Suzanne

    1. Since no-one else with more experience has commented... I don't own a Classic Croc (or a handbag...), but when I have looked at them, they do seem on the sturdier side, with fairly stiff covers.

As for the A4 in the back pocket, well, both the Kensington & Cavendish Pockets, with 16mm rings, will just fit the 148.5mm width of an A4 sheet. The Classic Croc, with 19mm rings, should be slightly wider than those binders (to accommodate the extra circumference of the rings, and the increased page offset), so an A4 sheet _should_ fit.

    2. I think you had the proper dimensions in mind, Kevin.

The question seems to be about an A4 sheet folded in thirds for a DL envelope. That would make 100x210mm (e.g. 100+99+98) or 102x210 if folded less accurately (e.g. 102+99+96).

      Folded to a quarter would be A6, i.e. 149x105.

But I have no organiser with full-open-width back pocket here to get the measurements.

No, I just had a brain fart when typing the A-series dimensions... Yes, I meant 210mm width, not 148.5mm. I actually tried it out with a sheet of A4, folded in three (so nominally 210x99mm). Obviously, the 99mm will easily fit in the Pocket, with its 120.65mm page height.

    4. By the way: This reminds me of the folding challenge. Take a full double-page newspaper sheet, and fold it in half ten times.

The question is, whether the paper will wear out when bending it around the spine while being tri-fold.

  2. Thanks very much Kevin, knowing that it at least feels sturdier is reassuring. For anyone else curious, I got in touch with a Reddit user who owns pocket/personal/A5 Classic Crocs and was kind enough to check the fit. An A4 page fits in the Pocket back pocket with the 210mm measurement perpendicular to the ring backplate. If folded in half the 148.5mm is a bit too tall for the back pocket and overhangs <10mm, but folded in 3 does fit.

I think I'll make the purchase once I've seen what the office atmosphere is in the new job :)

    1. Hi Suzanne
I have an A5 classic croc, it’s very lovely, the only thing that puts me off getting more in different sizes is the price. I don’t see them come up on eBay much as I’d be tempted by a bargain. I think you’ll love it if you do decide to take the plunge
