I have several types of tracking pages in my Filofax, mainly to track expenses.
One type of tracking page I've been using for a long time is for internet purchases. I have columns for the date ordered, website, items ordered, amount, which card I used to pay, and confirmation number. Then I have a column to note the date my order arrived. This lets me see what has arrived and what hasn't. Every now and then something doesn't arrive, and I have to contact the sender to ask them to track it or send it again. This has happened a few times this year and I'm glad I kept track in my chart or I might have forgotten I even ordered them!
A new type of tracking page I added just a couple of months ago is to track when I've paid a deposit and then when I've paid the subsequent remaining amount. My daughter is in Girl Scouts and this year they've had several trips and events where I had to pay a deposit to reserve her space and the rest of the amount later. I quickly lost track of which events I'd paid what for. This new tracking page solved all that so I can easily see at a glance what I've already paid, what I still need to pay and when it's due.
What types of tracking pages do you like to use in your ring binder?
And as always on Friday, feel free to discuss and/ or ask about anything ring-binder related!
Good idea !
ReplyDeleteThanks
I track expense claims, because the process has a lot of steps and I've found a paper record is ideal.
ReplyDeleteI use columns to record the claim reason, the reference number, the total amount, the claim date, approval date, date the paperwork was sent to accounts, date accounts acknowledged receipt, date of payment notification and date when the payment actually arrived!
This has helped me to spot and chase some claims where the process had stalled.
Hi gmax. On a post you mentioned looking for a Filofax insert in some stores. Is the font blue on the personal week on two pages one (6842016)? Someone showed a photo online and it had blue font. Also is the personal week on two pages tabbed month insert (linear format) printed back to back? I looked on both the U.S. and U.K. sites and it was not listed. Will it be available for 2016?
DeleteHi Be. I ended up ordering from Filofax UK to get my 2016 week per page personal. It is coded 6842616, and has black print. The design has changed since the 2015 version - I am a bit annoyed that the font has been changed, but the new version does have some improvements. Afraid I don't know about the month inserts.
DeleteI say the print is black - I've not got it with me just now, but the new version may use lighter font colouring than the old one.
DeleteGmax, thank you for the reply and information. I noticed that there was more space on the days. I am keeping these inserts in mind in case I do not finish my 2016 computer format in time.
DeleteHi Be, I think when you buy a new filofax the diary is in a color other than black, my malden came with blue ink. However when you buy the diary separately the color is black.
DeleteI have a "waiting for list" where I scribble a date & description. An "expense" booklet with three columns- date, description, amount. This is where I itemize every single penny spent. I use the tracking section of my FC pages for my "daily 5"-silence, prayer, scriptures, journal, & exercise. I have repetative monthly tasks that are list in my master task to assure that they have been done. As a cubscout master I write kids' names, badge earned, & whether he received it or not. I also track what my children do in scouts each week. Obviously, I love tracking things! It is such a great way to step back & see the big picture.
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm new to Philofaxy and the Filofax world, so please put me in my place if I'm not supposed to be posting here.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be getting a Filofax soon, but I'm undecided between a Saffiano and the Original, and between A5 and a personal size. If anyone has used either one (or both!) of them, I'd love to hear your experiences/complaints/gushings/whathaveyou. Thank you in advance. <3 Cheers.
On behalf of the community, Welcome Alex. As to which binder to use, it is just personal taste. I can address the personal or A-5 question a bit better, and there are many who have much more experience with both sizes than I,(yes David Popely, I am thinking of you) the main difference lies in the portability, if it is going to pretty much stay on a desk, the A-5 is great. If you have to be out and about a great deal, then the personal shines, so much easier to carry, and much easier to reference. I have used the personal size for a while now, and my archives and whole system is such that I will stay with it. One thing you might consider looking at is the A-6 size and a Van derSpeck binder. I think that would be a wonderful setup.
ReplyDeleteHopefully David or Steve will address your issues further.
Thank you so much for replying, and for the welcome. I'll take a look at the Van derSpeck binders. Does Filofax make A6 sizes? I've only seen A5 listed, but maybe that's just the Singapore website.
DeleteAlex - have a read of some of the documents under the "Files" menu above - especially the size guide. It'll answer a lot of questions you might have as a newcomer! Also, try the search column on the left. For example, search for "A6" if that's your interest - and no, Filofax have never made that size!
DeleteHas anyone made a vertical box weekly spread layout template for filofax? I like the Erin condren planner, but don't want to spend the money. :/
ReplyDeleteI made myself pages to track my eat as well as my blood pressure. Tracking my eating is nothing new, but tracking my blood pressure is. I am taking it twice a day while my doctor and I figure out if my new meds are working, and it's so much easier than tracking with an app. I like glancing at my paper and seeing my boxes all filled out.
