Continual improvement is something I often associate with my working career. Always looking to improve your performance from on year to the next, or at least maintaining the same high standard.
In my photography hobby, I'm always looking to try out new things, hone existing skills. This often results in me photographing the same scene at different times of the year or different times of the day. These will often be local to where I live, so no long distance trips. But occasionally I will see something and it will be something new that I've not photographed before. It might be very ordinary, but under street lights it looks very different.
With planning I'm always looking to improve the use of my planner, making it work better for me. Or to improve my style of journaling to help improve my memories of events and even ordinary days.
Are we asking too much of ourselves? I don't know, what about you?
Of course it's Friday so please feel free to discuss anything around Filofax or similar organisers.
And I'm looking forward to the Skype chats over the weekend, take care.
Which Skype chats, Steve? I haven't seen any post about a date/time for them.

Thanks - not sure how I missed that ....
DeleteI'm systematically clearing out old planners and notebooks from my massive stash, removing things I only used for a short time before abandoning or didn't use at all. I came across several self-made planners I drew up in notebooks over the years, which I discovered had the same format as the system I'm using now: monthly index, weekly planning pages, daily records/ notes when needed. Funny how I'd tried various iterations of the same theme over the years! I also found several journals I'd started and abandoned over the years. They say consistency is key, but I've enjoyed experimentation in planners/ notebooks/ journaling over the years. I think a mix of both is good!
ReplyDeleteI recently discovered a podcast that includes a "week in review" section about the same time I started recording a week in review in my setup. Do you have a template for a weekly review? Thx

ReplyDeleteAsking "too much" isn't really worth worrying about, because you never know how much is "too" much until you try. That we can communicate these ideas to each other across a system incomprehensible to someone from five hundred years ago speaks loudly of the fact we can't put shackles on our aspirations and dreams. That we're talking about ordinary people, you and me, sharing literacy and high-quality tools like planners, speaks of this as well, but perhaps more quietly so.
I’m hoping to setup a reading log planner, to log books I purchase and read, something simple, I’m not sure whether to setup in personal or a5, any ideas or recommendations appreciated? Thank you
