    I do wonder if there is any regional differences between layouts?

    Here in Sweden (and Scandinavia) we tend to use week numbers to plan,
    For example our summer vacation is preferred between the week 27 and 31.

    Name days are also common to keep track of.

    1. I never used week numbers but at work dealing with continental Europe especially German and Dutch companies I had to use week numbers. However, it's a kind of work element rather than personal planning element I reckon. At work week numbers were often used to narrow down a commitment but with a little bit of wiggle room. If we say delivery is 15th of February it's locked in but delivery week 7 means 12th to 16th.

      My diary is day to one page and it shows week number and day x in - day y left. That's occasionally useful too. However most work supplied diaries in my old place of work in the past didn't always have week numbers.. I'd say in the UK bound workplace diaries really switched to including week numbers about 10 years or more ago.

  2. Happy New Year to all faxyphiliacs, especially to those at phILOFAXY. I look forward to the Virtual Meet Ups and have learnt so much over the last year, not the least that the filofax world is an iceberg. I initially owned and used 3 or 4 and thought I might casually collect the 40-50 different models, just for fun. I am now aware of over 180 different named styles ('collections' as the filofax website calls them) most with 3 or more different sizes and goodness knows how many different colours, to say nothing of special editions. But I'm sure I'm telling you something you already know, because I'm also amazed and grateful for the depth of knowledge shared freely within the community. Thanks to everyone and all the best for 2024!

  3. I'm looking for a secondhand filofax in personal and either smooth leather or at most like finsbury, such I have in A5. What comes up on sites like vinted or ebay at reasonable prices that's worth looking at? I'm looking for a portable filofax instead of my built finsbury A5. I'm guessing with a stiffer cover than Maldebs that I have seen come up for sale a lot recently. I guess flatability needs to be useable levels and sober business suitable colours.

    What comes up on sites like vinted or ebay at reasonable prices that's worth looking at? Are older ones worth looking at?

    1. Older ones from the 1980s and early 90s are certainly worth looking at, because of their quality and durability. They will have “Made in England” stamped inside - you can check the catalogue archives at the top of the page or the Filowiki site.

  4. Hello... I am looking for a starting point (if there's one) that would help/guide me to how to use Filofax. Currently I am using 3-4 different notebooks and what I don't like about this setup (besides it being crazy) is its linearity. I have had a TN (passport) but I guess it's too linear for me as well..

    1. Welcome! I use tabbed dividers in my Filofax that I label with removable tape flags. This makes it easy to move things around and re-label the tabs whenever I want. This will let you combine all your notebook contents into one Filofax, break into individual topics, give different Filofax binders their own topics which can then be subdivided, etc. The flexibility of the Filofax system lets you change things any time.   5. I don’t think there’s an easy answer on how to use Filofax, apart from saying “it depends”. Sounds like the benefit of re-positioning the pages will be the main thing for you. Maybe start with an inexpensive personal size binder, a stack of paper and some dividers and just see where it takes you?

    1. I agree with what you said, but I'd add that first, second or even third setup are all likely transitions to the setup that works for you. Then things change and you have to work out a new setup.

      Some divisions I simply move around all the time. Partly I like to put more frequent use sections towards the front but occasionally I move one further back say it I wanted to keep private / personal information away from work use sections. Also, I hide confidential near the back.

      Whatever I start with I end up not liking it and moving things around as a result. That's the benefit of repositional folder systems.

    2. A good place to start might be to use the already labeled cream Filofax dividers (Diary-Notes-Projects-Information-Financial Addresses). They are similar to the 1-6 dividers that come with your personal Filofax. Hope that helps.
