I had a look on Letts Group (Filofax parent company) website, and ref the new QR codes and related app, it seems they've moved into AI in a big way:

"LettsGroup uses its proven methodology, advanced technology and AI venture factory to solve some of society's biggest problems.
We focus on next generation technology, media and climate ventures that deliver high growth and strong earnings. Our AI venture factory powers the group and partner ventures." From the Letts Group main website.

Their site and LettsJournal are both worth exploring to understand their aims and the context for this change, including activist goals, and going all-in on the subscription model for products and services. I found nothing on either one about paper planning, sadly.

  2. The Letts Group Limited is absolutely NOT the parent company of Filofax. It is a one director (a member of the Letts family) entity which is nothing to do with modern day Letts diaries or Filofax. The Letts family came out of diaries and paper a few years ago and the Letts and Filofax parent company is now FLB Group. It owns Filofax, Letts and the Blueline Group.

      Interesting, thank you Tim.

My preferences aside, the crux of the matter seems to lie in whether Filofax are currently:

      1. a diary company whose main focus remains paper-based products, making an exploratory move into apps

      2. a tech-oriented company with a specific corporate vision, hoping to streamline their paper-planner arm into a more integrated tech experience, from which to launch subscription products.

Of course I know some people would welcome that, but for me, if they're firmly No: 1, it's safe to say I've seldom been more delighted to be WRONG!

    2. In the end it's just ugly with all those QR spots on their new inserts. And as far as I can tell, they don't even give you a choice. What a shame!
