Love this episode. Just wondering why Karine felt compelled to answer a client call during lunch? I like to be mindful of my work breaks, it is okay to eat without working too. I did that for 38 years, and unless the client is paying for lunch or my time, I can call them back when I get back to my office.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol! Thanks for your great question. Normally, I don’t take calls during lunch and enjoy letting voicemail do it’s job. However, on this particular day I had been called away to serve as a consultant for a local agency and hadn’t blocked off my time as “unavailable” to the regular queue because a couple of clients were going for interviews-last minute jitters often require a last minute call to the career coach. Also, the local agency had a quick turnaround time for their request so it was a “hurry up and eat so we can get back to it” lunch. I don’t mind these moments because 99% of the time I set my own pace. What bothered me most was that I didn’t have my client’s details with me to reference during the call. I’m instituting steve’s Suggestion of the A-Z tabs as client reference sheets to see if that works. (Client was hired by the way).
