Cambs Planner Con 2017

So this last weekend was the second Planner Con to be held in Cambridgeshire. I was invited by Anna Brim (Mrs Brimbles)  to speak at the event a few months ago. So I started work on my talk putting together, I was given an hour including questions and answers.

I have never given a talk about planners to such a large group of people before. The room was full with about 120 people... and only three men including me. It was a little unnerving at first. But I had some friendly people on the same table as myself and we quickly got to know each other.

I was only at the two day event on the Saturday but it was a very full programme and a very interesting one too.

My talk was a sort of 'This Is Your Life' talk about 30 years of planning with a small diversion in to electronic planning until my return in 2005! I then covered a variety of other planning topics. I will be revising this talk before I present it again in October at the Planner Con in Brussels to an even bigger audience.

Here are some videos from the event:

A big thank you to Anna Brim for organising the event and for the invite to speak at the event and thank you to everyone who attended and came and said hello.

Forthcoming Planner Events

There are a lot of planner events coming up this year. I needed to start writing them on the calendar to get my head around them all.

Next weekend (11-12 March) is PlannerCon 2017 which is being held in San Francisco, I'm not able to attend this event mainly down to the cost and it clashes with something else I happen to be doing.  To find out about PlannerCon 2017 visit their website. PlannerCon as with most of them covers all types of planners and organisers not just ring bound organisers.

In April (29th-30th) I am attending CambsPlannerCon in St Neots, Cambridgeshire UK, I'm speaking at the event on the Saturday.  Details from Mrs Brimbles

The following weekend on Saturday 6th May I'm hosting a Philofaxy Meet Up in London, details here and there are still places available for this event. Please contact me if you would like to attend this event.

Later in May (20th) I'm a guest at a small gathering of French planner users at a small town on the Loire near to Chateâu Chenonceau, I'm taking my wife Alison along to this one... her French is much better than mine!! If you are interested in this event there is a small Facebook group for the event.

I am also aware that also on 20th May there is Scot-Con 2017 in Glasgow. You can find out details of this event here.

Coming up in early June we have a meet up at Van der Spek on 9-10 June 2017. There are a limited number of places still available for this event. Please see this post for details. Please contact me if you would like to attend this event.

I then have a few months free before we have PlannerCon Europe on 28-29 October 2017 in The Square in Brussels in Belgium. Again this conference type event is for all types of paper planners not just organisers. There will be vendors there from main manufactures we hope. There will also be talks and workshops. Tickets haven't gone on sale as yet, but watch out for announcements and keep looking out for details on the event website.

I hope to meet some of our readers at some of these events this year. I will of course post about the events I attend. Are you aware of any other planner events I've not included?

Giveaway for the Plannerology Event at PlannerCon USA

Are you going to be at PlannerCon USA in March?

If you are, I am giving away a paid for ticket to the Plannerology event as a gift from Philofaxy to one lucky person.
'Why would you do that Steve?
If you listen back to the podcasts over the last year you might have detected that slowly but surely Karine has been working on helping me make better use of my own planner.

I am eternally grateful to Karine for her patience in nudging me in the right direction!

I'm sure there are others in our community who could benefit from her tutorials and skills. The Plannerology event will be a fairly exclusive event with only 15 tickets available. So the lucky winner will be one of the few not the many.

So how can you win this ticket I have on offer?
In less than 250 words tell me how you believe your planning skills would benefit from attending this Plannerology event.
You can supply photos of your current planner to back up your text as evidence, but this isn't a requirement.
Email your submission to steve at philofaxy dot com before the closing date and label your entry Plannerology Ticket

Some rules...
1. Obviously you must be attending PlannerCon USA already, sadly I can't make it.  The Plannerology event will take place on 11 March in the evening.
2. We reserve the right to request confirmation from you that you have a ticket to PlannerCon USA
3. No cash alternatives are available.
4. The competition will close at 23:30 (11:30pm - Paris time) on Sunday evening 26th February 2017
5. The winner will be informed via email the following day and details will be forwarded to Karine.
6. The judges decision is final

I linked to Karine's post below in Webfinds last week, but here it is again in full below....

Good luck.

Greetings Plannerologists!

I am planning on having a VIP First-Class Lifestyle session at PlannerCon with a select few individuals. Space is limited to 15 people only! One person (that's one in 15 people) will have a chance to win a $200 Plannerology gift certificate to gain a planning session with me, either in person if you are local to the VA/DC area or via Skype.

Get your tickets here. This is an OFFICIAL Plannerology event.

There WILL be rare planners to sniff and pet!

After the success of setting up Plannerology in 2016, I've gotten a lot of private messages thanking me for inspiring members to create the lifestyle they have always dreamt of having. It's one thing to dream about living the life you want and another to actually define it and live it. In detail, crating order from chaos. This calls for creating all the first-class lifestyle space you can and removing all other obstacles. Living a first-class lifestyle takes courage and an open mind. There must be a willingness to accept more than one way of getting to the same destination.

That's why I decided to offer up this historic, (yes, I said historic) event. The first annual PlannerCon in San Francisco is already breaking multiple "first" moments with the sheer size and scale of the event along with the quality speakers (*ahem*) and vendors.

The magic that is created at Plannerology allows for small and permanent habit changes, allowing us to ease into our desired lifestyle with grace. Nothing is forced. We develop personal mission statements and yes, we will be doing activities to discover this elusive creature at the VIP session.

I have a slew of take aways for attendees, which by the way is limited to 15 people!! Any more than 15 and we lose the magic. One attendee is guaranteed to walk away with a $200.00 Plannerology Gift Certificate (that's a one in 15 chance of winning), for private session with me after PlannerCon.

Because the First-Class lifestyle is a mindset. we will work on setting the groundwork for that. How? Bring your planner, your pen and yourself to this special event being held on the 9th floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel on PlannerCon eve! We will have a 1.5-hour guided session, away from the craziness, in a quiet setting where we can take our time and give ourselves a chance to breathe in what is important.

In this VIP Planning Session, you will be able to :

  1. Develop a Personal Mission Statement
  2. Defining goals that align with your purpose in life
  3. Ground yourself in your purpose or reigniting your passion for your purpose
  4. Use your planner as a playbook for your life
  5. Start taking control of all the moving bits around you
  6. Make choices that push you forward in your goal success
  7. Curate (edit) the parts of your life that don't serve you anymore
  8. Learn to establish routines to enhance your wellbeing
  9. Start creating a life purpose altogether yours
We will have classical music, a private, ambient and intimate setting. What better way to start off PlannerCon than a private, VIP session?! I welcome you to join me in leaving white space behind. Let's start filling the pages together.

Cambridgeshire Mini Planner Con - Guest Post.

Introducing the Cambridgeshire Mini Planner Con… a chance for planner addicts of all genres, ring bound, spirals and ‘dori’s to come together to chat and have fun with all things planner.

The event is being run on Saturday 23rd April 2016 from 12-3pm in the Cambridgeshire town of St Neots. St Neots is in a fab location for driving as it sits on the A1 / A428 (A14) trunk roads and if you are coming in from London it is just a 45 minute train ride from Kings Cross. So pretty accessible to most people in the Eastern region.

The event is ticketed just to control numbers and the ticket price covers the cost of the venue hire, lunch, goodie bag and speaker. So if you would like to come please book in ASAP to avoid disappointment as places are limited.

If you are interested in finding out more or to book your spot please visit: http://www.mrsbrimbles.co.uk/product/cambridgeshire-mini-planner-con-event/ or contact Anna Brim (aka Mrs Brimbles) who is organizing the event by email: mail@mrsbrimbles.co.uk

Having met Anna at one of my own meet ups in London last year I know you will have a fun time. So if you are free on that date and you aren't too far from St Neots, I'm sure it will be worth a visit.
