Filofax in social media

In the run-up to our 20th anniversary of Philofaxy, I've been thinking about how much our online interactions have changed over the years! (And yet how Philofaxy remains a firm constant!)

Back when I first started reading Philofaxy, blogging was very popular and many of us who read Philofaxy at that time had our own blogs (many of which are now sadly defunct). We created an online community with commenting and guest-posting on each others' blogs, linking and referencing each others' posts. Personally that was my favourite time in the online community!

Facebook came along, and eventually Instagram. I'm assuming there are also Filofax communities on other platforms like TikTok and Discord but I'm not on those. There's not as much discussion on these platforms, and more video content rather than text-based as in blogs, but it's still fun to see how people all over the world use their Filofax organisers in their lives and work. 

Besides Philofaxy (of course!), what are your favourite Filofax-related blogs or social media accounts, past and present?

Philofaxy On Social Media

The world of social media has changed a lot in recent years. Before there was only two or three things to follow, now there is a whole raft of different platforms. 

Here are the details of the main ones that Philofaxy is on in some level or not. 

Facebook

This is where you will find: 

• The Philofaxy Facebook page, we try to post a link to the latest post every day on here. 
• The Filofax for Philofaxy Fans - The group for all people who are interested or enjoy using ring bound planners of any kind. This group has been running since about 2011 with over thirteen thousand members. It is the most active group. 
• Vintage Filofax Users - For users, collectors and appreciators of the "Golden Age" of Filofax, the 1980s and early 1990s when they were hand made in England from the best quality materials to a quality not a price. Please consult the catalogs on the Philofaxy blog or Filowiki to determine if a model is on-topic or not.
  A place to share pictures, ideas or Filofax's that is open and user driven.
  Other vintage ring bound organisers of non-Filofax brands are also allowed.
• There are also groups for A5 users and A6 users. 
• You will also find groups dedicated to Van der Spek and Gillio with their own sales groups too. 
• And many many more, just use the search facility on Facebook to find other planner groups. 

Instagram

• MrPhilofaxy - I occasionally post photos of organisers on this account.

Do you Instagram?

'To Instagram' : To take random photographs of your organisers and anything else you enjoy and then share them with the world.

Well may be not! At first I didn't see the attraction of Instagram, firstly the picture format was square and unless you hadn't noticed, most of the things we use are not square but rectangular! So I signed up for an account and then didn't really use it for some time.

That changed about 12 months ago, I cleared out the random photos I had on my account and decided to give it another try. I tend to think of the photos as random 'snaps' of things I'm currently using or writing about. I've been trying to get more creative, rather than trying to take that 'perfect' photograph each and every time.

I've never used any of the filters in the application, I prefer my photos to be as they are, not distorted in some way.

Quite often I will post a teaser photo about forthcoming blog posts on Instagram to build up the anticipation.
