If you have ever come across Boolean Algebra, it is made up of various rules and theories, but one thing the Professors and Doctors omitted to include was the Philofaxy Inversion Filofax Purchasing Rule (2013), which when simplified comes out as an 'If Not Why Not' Gate.
This has been proved by lengthy studies of readers comments and buying habits that the inversion condition is true and therefore valid...
So what will be the next thing you are 'not' going to 'purchase' ?
But as it is a Friday you are of course free to discuss anything Filofax related... You will note that the inversion rule doesn't apply in this case... So discussing nothing Filofax related wouldn't be inverted... I rest my case... 'I will get my coat' !
What I'm not going to purchase it's a few inserts and maybe a new Filofax wich technically will be my first ever Filofax purchase :) Keeping a side that I did got tape and other things :P
ReplyDeleteI think the rule it's very logical when it comes to planners and situations like this, it's not easy to step away from the planners LOL So we buy and try so many things and we end up with so much...
I only have 3 personal size binders and I'm already feeling like I have too much and at the same time I want more, wich it's the rule in action and the addiction too... I realized A5 (for now) it's not my size of planner and I'm afraid to find the perfect planner/wallet because that will leave my Mini Malden without a purpose.
Talking about Filofaxes... Anyone has any possible ideas for how this year models may be? (o.O) When Tracy told me about new models I was like WHAT?! But then I realized it's true, every year it's something new so... Ideas?
I heard there is going to be an aqua Malden.
DeleteAqua? I didn't need to hear that.
DeletePlease, don't tease.
DeleteI am not purchasing anything...........just looking but if it is gorgeous and useful then perhaps I might 'need' it!!!
ReplyDeleteI would like, if I may, to ask about something semi Filofax related. If I was to start a blog, having never blogged before, what would be the best one to go with?
Thank you
I have blogs on both Blogger and Wordpress and if you are a beginner and just wanting a straightforward blog I'd say Blogger. It has plenty of features and its like falling off a log to use.
DeleteLikewise I would say start with Blogger, it's very easy to use, and easy to get started too.
DeleteI also use Wordpress, a few more options, but the end result what you view is much the same.
Philofaxy runs on Blogger, no intention to move it to Wordpress, which is technically possible to do, but there are a few gotchas along the way which mean that is isn't practical to do the change over.
The difference for me is that you sort of own your Wordpress blog more - so if you want to use it for business or to monetize a blog, then self hosted Wordpress is the best - however if you just want a space to talk and ramble and communicate with the world in general, then blogger is much easier.
DeleteMy friend Trish and I just started a blog - plannerchicks.com - and reading something from Leoni Dawson I discovered Weebly - it's been great so far, but I confess to being a total newbie about all of this!
DeleteThanks to everyone who replied and I think I will go with Blogger based on your thoughts.
Delete@Claudia I also read a ebook from Leonie where she talks about Weebly for a free website and it turns out it is also a blogging platform - might check out your blog to see how it looks.
I used to use Typepad but switched to Wordpress because the interface was exactly like a discussion forum I used to run, which in turn was similar to the Novell Network I trained as Network Manager on. I have heard over and over that Blogger is much simpler to use so maybe start with that one. If you ever have to use Wordpress for any reason I am sure the learning curve would be less steep once you have cut your teeth on Blogger. A colleague of mine uses Wordpress for his own blog but Blogger for his students because they find it easier to put their work up on it. Good luck and let us know the address once you are up and running!
DeleteMy blog is self-hosted on Word Press but if my son didn't help me, I wouldn't have a clue.
DeleteStop it. Stop it. I said STOP IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI am NOT going to buy a Holborn Zip from Italy that I am wanting becuase Chrissie's accent was so delicious when she showed it on her video and I am NOT going to buy a Compact Holborn because it looked so good on Ashlene's post yesterday.
i am going to go to work now where my existing A5 Holborn in wine is waiting for me to touch and love. And my A5 Chocolate Classic and A5 Chilli CUban hold overflow notes and the A4 classic is sitting waiting to be set up better. In order to ensure I keep to this I will write it in my personal planner a Crimson Malden today ( I rotate) which will be in my handbag and that note should remind me not to get the pocket Chameleon out of the handbag to get at my credit card. And if I start to get tempted anyway because I am checking into this blog all day I will write about it in my A5 Ostlerley that I will take with me for lunch time journalling or will distract myself by making notes in the A5 Malden that comes between work and home and contains all my web and writing project notes.
So you can see why I really do not need more. And if I do there are more at home when I get back....
But If it turns out that the Law Of Attraction is too powerful you will be the first to see my new purchases :)
Helen - you must use an awfully big bag to get to work and back!!!
DeletePS - thankfully I usually work at home!
DeleteIndeed I have a handbag plus a big mock ostritch leather tote bag. This usually does not matter as I park right on the premises so it only gets carried a few yards and so I can be overoptimistic about what time I might get at lunch to do things in it!
DeleteLOL was just thinking that Alison - I'd like to see a post about how/what we use to carry around all our great filofaxes..
DeleteOh,oh....*whisper*:I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE that A5 zipped Holborn...I COULD take it to bed with me ;o)If the code (My Filo-world...)is still working, then GET YOU ONE!!It is sooo adorable :o)
DeleteSee.. Chrissie even WRITES in that accent!
DeleteLOL!!!!AM I???
DeleteMaybe I just read you in your own voice...go on, just for me, write, " I love it, I really love it."
DeleteAhem.
Its Ok folks, I am not chatting her up, I just appreciate nice accents :)
I rarely watch the videos (*very* rarely) - now I feel I must. Quick - someone give me a link :-)
DeleteYou have to watch some of Chrissie's they are a must see....
DeleteHelen...I guess it was you, creating a wonderful penloop...for your Aston :o) Is there any chance to get a...an...Dingsbums...template/example...?
DeleteHelen, you're funny.
DeleteChrissie, can you email me at studioconway (at) gmail (dot) com so I can stalk you,,, NO! so I can find out exactly what you want re the pen loop and get it to you!
DeleteChrissis universe has the best voice on you-tube
DeleteThank you,Helen!I`ll do that tomorrow, caus right now I have to ... CHRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ;o))
DeleteDoes Chrissie do audio books I wonder....
DeleteHi - dies anyone know about the Portobello range?
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to buy an A5 Osterley in Orange ......, oops too late, waiting patiently for it to arrive.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to buy an aqua Malden when available, nor am I going to buy a new handbag, purse and shoes to match it .......
Oh dear. Dear, dear, dear. Did you say AQUA Malden??? I just posted below that I was DONE buying. Anything. Ever. Until...an Aqua Malden. Sigh. Aqua is like my favorite go to color for summer. I guess it will depend on if the Aqua is more green or more bluish since I just received a blue Finsbury. But who am I kidding? I already have 3 Maldens and love them. Can I resist Aqua? Aqua!
DeleteI agree Cheryl. I love aqua.
DeleteI am NOT going to buy 2 Filofaxes from the Conduit Street Filofax shop, because I'm going to get them FREEEE in March!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is because I emailed Filofax to complain about the faulty replacement filos they sent me, in return for faulty filofaxes!! I said to the representative that I knew they were going to offer replacement (identical) filos in return for the faulty ones (which were replacements for faulty ones), but that I was worried that they would be faulty too! So I said I would prefer to pick them up myself from the Filofax shop the next time I'm there! These were replacements for a purple personal Malden and wine personal Holborn. She replied that I was free to choose 2 when I went to the Filofax shop, OF MY CHOICE!!! Yes, 2 free filofaxes that I GET TO PICK!!! EEEEeeeeehhh!!!
I haven't decided what I want to pick yet, but I think at least one of them will be an A5, possibly an Osterley, although I am worried they will have run out of the plum ones! I'm so excited! I will be going to the Filofax shop on the morning of the Philofaxy meet-up!!

DeleteAt last you have a result Kate...have fun choosing your filofaxes....
DeleteI really enjoy it,when you get soooo exited :o)
DeleteDon`t worry about the color - it should have perfect rings ;o)
And I hope that you will post a video :o)
Great news, Kate! :)
DeleteI am not going to buy any of Kate´s filos... please, I am begging you all, buy them before I can... I need serious help :-)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I would then be at a nice round number... oh no, I´d be just past a nice round number and then I´d have to buy more... ooh, now there´s a thought... :-D
DeleteDoh!!! Serious lack of willpower, more coming my way :-)
DeleteI've got a grey A5 Malden on ee bay just can't wait until it arrives! Is it silly to be so excited about a parcel arriving?
ReplyDeleteSusan
Not at all - that is perfectly normal :-)
DeleteTruly...I did a a little happy dance today when I got home from Target. On my porch was a medium sized box which I knew was either from Vera Bradley or Amazon. What I didn't know was that behind the box were two smaller Fed Ex envelopes and one of them held my new blue Finsbury. I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow or possibly Monday. So you can be sure I was beyond excited to have any early arrival. Its sitting next to me as I type. I just can't stop looking at the gorgeous color. I also have the A5 Malden in grey (and Personal and Pocket). You will love it!
DeleteI'm kind of torn about purchasing - as a rule I don't buy much... But I would really love to find a portland grand! And would love an aqua filo - not sure if I want a malden but... I just don't know. I have the green finsbury but might sell that. I know people think the malden is too floppy but the finsbury is almost too stiff for me. I find I don't use it all that much because the space combined with how stiff the cover is doesn't let me use the pockets as well as I'd like. But I'm just torn because they are hard to find and I love the color. I can't buy anything at a store because there arent any - I am hoping that with the new line the issues are much improved and as older stock is sold off, so go the issues. It feels like such a risk to buy new sometimes...
ReplyDeleteThe jolly green giant? Nooo - you can´t get rid of him, he is too gorgeous (although I´m sure there are plenty of people on here who would love to buy him, in fact, I´m sure there was someone in the FB group looking for one the other day - otherwise I´d be sticking my hands in the air ready for if you decide that is the way to go) :-)
DeleteWhat about an aqua Chameleon...?
DeleteLj, I know, I know. So beautiful but I don't see me using it, a lot anyway. I'm trying not to just collect them ...
DeleteChrissie, I've looked at them and think they are really, really pretty!
I realy want the Holborn Personal in Wine. But I DO NOT NEED IT! It is very difficult to resist. I just bought a used A5 (Succes branche, a Dutch branche) for work. I need this one, because I have a lot of paper lying around. Can't find any good binder for this job. And it cost me EUR 10. So me happy. But still resisting to buy the Holborn in WIne.
ReplyDeleteToday I received the beautiful blue Finsbury in Personal size. So glad I ordered this color before it is discontinued. I originally ordered the Kingfisher Blue Metropol but Montgomery Pens notified me a week after I ordered it that it was out of stock. It was probably a blessing in disguise (although I do think the Metropol is quite nice for a non-leather binder but cannot find it anywhere in Blue). The blue Finsbury is even better than shown on my monitor. I knew it would be a vibrant blue but this color reminds me of the tropical Cancun and Caribbean waters that I so love and am drawn to. Plus I love the smooth finish of the Finsbury. (I think I might have to get this in A5 if I can find a bargain!). It will require lots of training as it is quite stiff and doesn't lay anywhere near flat; but I knew that about the Finsbury before buying thanks to all you good folks who share reviews and videos! I plan to save this for summer but not sure I can wait that long! In the meantime, I must really STOP buying and have vowed that this is the last one. There really isn't any other binder in the current range that I feel I must have. Only if the A5 Blue Finsbury goes on special in the USA then I might consider. I really have to force discipline upon myself! Have a good weekend everyone!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, Amazon has your personal metropol in Kingfisher Blue.
DeleteThanks Cassandra...I was looking for Personal and didn't see that size. I'll keep checking...
DeleteI am sooooooo exited....waiting for 3 (!!!)Filos to arrive :o) The gorgeous A5 Spring Green Chameleon, that I purchased from Ebay - and 2 Baroques (suddely it is getting quiet...Chrissie laying on the ground, smiling+giggeling madly*gg*)
ReplyDelete.....!!!!
Well...I guess I have to make some more videos ;o)
TWO Baroques?!!!
DeleteYES!!!They arrived today...a black pocket+a teal Personal :o))
DeleteGORGEOUS!!!
Yay for Filofax arrivals!!!
DeleteOmg, you're so lucky Chrissie! Too bad eBay usually gives us Swedes a punch in the face ("HAHA! you can't place a bid on that! Are you STUPID?!" complete with manic laughter)... I just need a personal pink Baroque to complete my Baroque family!
DeleteYou know,I wish I had some lottery money.nit the big win, just a grand or so would do and then I could buy you all what you long for and send it as a gift. How cool would it be to do that?!
ReplyDeleteHARHARHAR!!!It sounds great...BUT...the chase is half of the fun ;o)-huh...THAT was a german accent ;o)
DeleteFunny, I have now reverted back to my first Filofax, a Personal "College" in blue. I purchased several Filos since I've rediscovered mine a year and a half ago, but I have sold them all since.
ReplyDeleteSo no, I won't buy any new Filofax, because I now know that Personal is the right size for me ! And what better Filofax to use than my first one, which was a gift from my mother for my 18th birthday, 15 years ago ? (Eek !)
(Oh, by the way, the last two I have will appear soon on the Adpost page, stay tuned : Pocket Bloom and Compact Osterley in Plum :)
I am not going to buy any more filofaxes! However, swaps are allowed for ones I already own. Actually I'm getting that feeling again of wanting to go back to just one filo...
ReplyDeleteThere are so many on sale right now - I want to get another one, but they're not exactly in the colors I would normally choose. It would be impulse, but I suspect I'll be collecting more along the way. I wish the Malden would go on sale!
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know where to find personal transparent envelopes? Filofax US has been sold out & there's only one sketchy resource on Amazon...
