Last Saturday we had a Philofaxy Meet-up in London. Eight of us gathered at the usual venue near to Oxford Circus for lunch and drinks and many chats and discussions about Filofax organisers and other brands of course.
People had brought with them various Filofax organisers and we made some interesting discoveries.
The first was yet another Filofax (Norman and Hill) address.
I was aware of an address near to South Woodford railway station, but this gives a more accurate address so we can add it to the list of Filofax addresses we already know about. This is what that address looked like in 2021 before a new building was constructed on the site and the 2021 building doesn't look that old so what was there back in the 1980's we don't know (yet)
Emma had also brought along her miniature Classic Croc. 'Honey I shrunk the Filofax' !!

Thanks a million, Steve, for organising this meet-up. It was the first time I'd been to one, and I had such a good afternoon with you all. It was interesting to chat with everyone and hear about the different purposes they have for their Filofaxes. My personal highlights were seeing Kevin's experiments in making a duplex from two covers, and getting to view a couple of Plotter covers in real life (think they belonged to Max). Mainly, though, I have to say what a lovely bunch of people the Philofaxy crowd are.
ReplyDeleteRegards, Pamela
Thank you Pamela. There’s a short follow up post coming on Monday about what happened on my way home from the meet-up…!
DeleteOh my god, that minaiture Filofax is so insanely cute!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the mechanics would be identical to the M2 mech, which would make sense in terms of production cost.
Is that really a Filofax brand product, or a custom made?
It was made by Filofax as a ‘sample’ there was also a similar sized Malden miniature that they auctioned off at PlannerCon Europe in 2019.
DeleteIt was lovely to meet everyone. Like other first-time meetings with 'internet weirdos', it was like meeting old friends. When Claudie, Max, Dave & I finally called it a day in the pub afterwards, it was a shock to discover it was 7:15pm...
ReplyDeleteI loved the tiny Classic Croc, and Alison's unusually-sized McVities manual (I seem to have a thing for old manuals; maybe because that's what brought me to this world), and the lovely old binders, including one with 1/4" rings (I'm not a fan of big rings, so it was fun to see Emma's 38mm A5 Norfolk!).
Thanks for organising, Steve; I think I shall have a lighter load next time, and maybe a tidier 'Domino Duplex' made from my recent £3 TK Maxx purchases.
It sounds like I missed out leaving early! Pub!!! Normally I would have gone along too. Hopefully I will be staying in London for the next one..
Deleted'oh! _Tracey's_ mini Classic Croc. Not Alison. Sorry Tracey :-(
DeleteOh, now I am messing up completely... It was Emma's Classic Croc, and Tracey's McVities binder. I think I need to go to bed...
DeleteLooks like so much fun! I'm especially interested in one of the planners I see underneath in Kevin's stack where it shows the zipper pull. I wonder which zip planner that is
ReplyDeleteI think it must be the Pocket Belgravia PDA, because I think that was the only zipper binder that wasn't in one of the boxes... an ebay purchase, hoping it was a Hamilton PDA, because of the visible features. But it has the synthetic inner spine material (like some other 'Deluxe Leather' binders like the Guildford) that degrades and crack/peels/flakes. I had thought to remove the Palm Pilot PDA holder at some point...
ReplyDeleteThe other possibility is a Pocket Microfile leather binder, but that would have been in one of the boxes. I just had another look at this, and found that it has rings that are mounted with a backplate, and have pear-shaped rings...
