Filofax no longer has a stockist list on their website, where you could search by town or postcode for your nearest store that had organisers and/or inserts.
Clearly the KaDeWe store in Berlin didn't get or read the office memo about reducing stocks!
Doesn't it make you want to start planning a trip to Berlin just to visit this store and to browse through the full range of organisers and the two racks of inserts?
Wow, the merchandisers have done a great job! That’s superb.
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn’t always look so pristine though, looking like a good few customers have rummaged about is never a bad thing 😊
I don't see a huge variety of models, though; looks like Malden, Norfolk, Original, maybe Camden or Metropol, some Dominos and a few Botanicals. Plus Notebooks, somewhat unusually...
ReplyDeleteStill, at least they have _some_ binders; WHS (sorry, TGJ...) have none at all now.
WHS? As in the stores at the airports?
DeleteIt's like finally getting a glimpse of Shangri-La.
ReplyDeleteAll the binders being ‘mauled’ was apparently the reason the John Lewis department store in Leeds (Yorkshire UK) totally stopped selling Filofax binders a while back. It was unhappy that all the stock was being made to look tatty and not even achieving sales as people would examine all the stock and then go home and order a pristine example from somewhere else online.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how that is different to any of the other products they sell, that customers can come in to 'maul', and then go home and order online...
DeletePossibly more evidence that the current offerings lack the durability of yesteryear.
DeleteI wonder how much of this is because department stores have moved away from having well-defined departments each with their own till area and staff who can keep an eye on things and keep stock tidy. In my local John Lewis (Norwich, UK) if you pick up a Filofax insert you have to walk through gifts, chocolate, jewellery, past handbags in their own little enclave, and all the way through bedding to reach the bank of tills. You will pass the odd member of staff but not enough to have oversight of all the departments you go through. Mind you, at least they're better than our House of Fraser used to be - I think they only had one till on the whole ground floor and they hid it behind a wall!
DeleteI was actually already running the numbers in my head to try and fit a three day visit to Berlin. After all, my German does need some practicing, and I could look at Personal size planners to see if anyone catches my eye... and my wallet.
