  2. Thanks, that makes me happy.

By the way: According to the Krause specs sheet, this type of ring mechanics is available for up to 100mm net capacity, with a total height of 116mm.

There's even a larger type for up to 120mm net capacity, with some sort of locking mechanism where the ring segments meet.

But I haven't seen any of these in real-life.

  3. Yes I agree - both for subject matter and technique.

  4. Thanks, Max. I feel honoured.

For those who'd be interested in some details...

The Scene: Bright daylight in my three-south-windows kitchen, two pieces of white card stock.

The Lens: Actually a 50mm macro lens, and I was surprised about the performance at f/2.5 (fully open). Also, the bokeh (the rendering of out-of-focus areas) is impressive for a macro lens. But it's only a 0.5x magnification type, not a 1:1 macro lens. The lens design is from the 1980s, marketed unchanged since 1987.
The green-ish and purple-ish tint at the rings in the background and foreground are so-called Lo-CA (longitudinal chromatic aberrations). This is an effect with bright lenses wide open, where light of different wavelength has to travel through varying amounts of glass.

The Shot: Tripod, cable release, mirror lockup. Avoiding camera shake is important.

    Hans
