  1. Hello! I ordered a personal original filofax last week, got it today, was super excited! But two rings are not aligned and 3 have gaps (they don't close all the way). I never had a new model filofax so I'm not too sure about the ring quality these days...am I being too picky? I requested an exchange :/ let's hope they are ok with that.

    1. Ring problems seem to be pretty common over the past year or so. I think Filofax are usually pretty good when it comes to exchanging though.

    2. Sorry to hear about more ring problems. This is the reason I will only buy in shops rather than online nowadays - I need to see the rings first to check that they are ok! I was in Paperchase recently and I checked quite a few of the Filofaxes they had on their shelves and almost all of them had ring problems! It's a real shame they can't seem to sort this out.

    3. I'm thinking of getting a new binder, but like you, won't order online. I'll go up to London and get one there so I can check the rings. It's really sad...

    4. I'm in the USA Cali...I couldn't find many stores that has the models and color I wanted, or else I would have bought it in person too. Will exchange and try my luck one mire time :/

  2. Thank you already to excuse me, but, I do not speak English, then, I used a "internet" dictionary.
But, I have a question, I try to make my intercallaires through the top and I do not arrive alone there, you would have a link to help me, thank you in advance. Excellent day and thank you for this blog, I adore him(it).

  3. Does anyone know if Filofax are discontinuing all of the slimlines? On the UK site, the only slimlines currently available are the Guildford (which I'm sure is a discontinued line), the Holborn and the Metropol. The latter two are both "last chance to buy". Even the Boston (which I think is the most recent slimline?) has disappeared. And none of the new 2013 range includes a slimline model. I'm quite a fan of the slimlines, so this makes me sad!

  4. Alors, ok, bonjour,
J'aimerai faire des intercallaires par le haut, mais, je ne sais pas comment faire, je n'y arrive pas. Est-ce que vous avez un lien pour ça.
J'adore votre blog et vous remercie pour tout ce que vous écrivez.
    Merci
    Chrisbleu

    2. I love that Philofaxy is so international! We get the best ideas from everywhere!

  5. Can anyone recall when Filofax started including the letter F on the spine of their organisers?

    1. Hi Steve, I may find it out in a pdf record about Filofax history that I keep at home. Still on my way home from work though and in need to pick up 3 binders I ordered (2x from Microfile and 1 from Success as I recently decided to not buy any filofax binder anymore) Will get back to you when the info checking is done.

    2. I think it was 1988 / 1989 when the embossing started. It was used internally on the metal spine and externally on the leather spine. Probably the ultimate intention was to emboss in both places, but I have seen Filofaxes with one or the other, presumably dating from around the transition period.

  6. Hello,

It seems everyone loves the Malden Filofax. I do not have a Malden, but I was wondering why that seems to be one of everyone's favorite?

    1. Bonsoir,

    2. Hi Babyinga! My first Filofax was a Malden, and I researched it as well. Like Chrisbleu (Salut!), I like it for it's soft and bendable leather. Other Filofaxes are very hard, while the Malden has a bit more flex. Malden is one of Filofaxes that also open flat without training. The colours and look are "vintage" as well. Depending on the colour, it can be professional looking, but also not seen as too stuffy for casual use. I'm really tempted to buy another one already and I've just had mine for a couple of weeks. They are harder to buy than other FFs though both in person and online. Hope this helps!

    3. The leather is just so soft and wonderful to touch. And it lays so flat. None of the others feel as good as the Malden.

    4. I don't have a Malden, but I do have Baroques and they are the softest and most fantastic leather, in my opinion, with an interior layout almost the same as the Malden. I adore my Baroques because of: their bright colours, soft leather, layout and I think the Malden would be loved for the same reasons...?

  7. Does anyone know why my post from almost 8pm (European Summer Time) does appear with the 13:47 time tag? Is the host server located on the US west coast? Thx everyone for letting me know.

    1. Yes the blog runs on East Coast USA time, always has done! So a blog post that shows 00:00 will be 06:00 French time!

  8. The East coast- I see. Thanks a lot Steve & sorry for still not replying on your question regarding the "f"Logo appearing on the binders cover. I did not find the printed paper in the little time left when I came home - as I also could not resist to immediately move into my new acquired Micrifile binder from around 1994. Loving the smaller footprint, sleek appearance and wonderful in England crafted fine quality Leather binder!
