  1. Does anyone know where I can buy a four hole punch for a pocket Filofax? Thanks.

    1. This would be the old version of pocket size. A personal size punch would do it by using the inner four punches. A difficulty would be lining up the pages accurately while punching - I suggest putting a mark on the baseplate to show the correct spot for the bottom of the page.

    2. Yes, holes 1 and 6 on personal are spaced with their inside edges 121 mm apart, the height of pocket size paper, so by using those as a guide you should be able to use a normal punch (Rapesco see the ad in the sidebar) as a punch for old style 4 hole pocket.

  2. Thanks, both of you. I've just tried it and it doesn't work as the gap between the top and bottom pair of rings in my pocket is 5cm and the gap in the pinch is 7cm. The pocket Filofax us a blue kid with 11mm rings, so soft to touch and just the right size for my daily blood glucose records. I've tried using a single hole punch but it looks messy and annoys me, hence the question about a suitable punch.

    1. 7cm spacing is A5, Personal is 5cm or 5.1 to be precise. What punch are you using? If it has moveable punch blocks move them in to personal spacing. :)

    2. That's not sad, Steve. That's expertise.

  3. Now I just feel stupid, Steve. Yes, I was using my A5 punch. So I've just tried it with my personal punch and it works fine. Thank you so much for your help!

    1. Please don't feel stupid... I'm just sad that I know the dimensions and page sizes from memory!

  4. Hi everyone - am currently debating the purchase of a Filofax - I NEED to get more organised and i'm not a fan of online planners/schedules. I currently have a normal diary but this seems to get neglected as there is no space/paper to jot things down like my to do list, shopping items or random musings like a potential gift that pops into my head. I work part time from home and look after my daughter with another on the way. Wondering whether the personal or A5 would be more suitable - I am leaning towards the A5 original. Also lusting after the fluro pink colour but this may just be pregnancy hormones :) Any advice would be great. Thanks!

    1. Hello...
Well you have come to the right place.

Now what I always say is don't buy anything yet... well certainly don't buy any organisers yet.

Get yourself some paper, and cut out some A5 (148x210mm) and Personal (95x171 mm) size pages. A small number will be ideal.

Now allow about 10mm on the inside edge for where the rings will be. Draw out a typical diary page, or notes page or what ever you are going to use.

Then for a few days try using both to see if the page size or writing space is about right, etc etc. Doing this in your own hand writing will quickly tell you if it feels right or not.

Once you have gone through that little exercise you will hopefully know which size will suit your daily/weekly routine.

Personal will fit any bag easily, A5 being bigger might be too big/heavy to carry around as well as all of your other 'stuff' baby supplies included!

That said, I use an A5 mainly but it tends to stay at home on my desk, and I carry around a personal or A6 size organiser with a reduced number of pages in it to cover basic calendar and notes etc when I'm out and about. We all adapt differently, one solution doesn't fit everyone.

But try out things on paper first before investing in organisers. Fluro Pink... hmmm my eyes hurt!!!

    2. Thanks, what a great idea - i'm going to try this before I part with my money.

  5. I have four almost perfect planners. Changing from one to the other provides some relief from my ever annoying itch of 'almost perfect'. Solutions anyone?

    1. Not from me, unfortunately. I can make a pocket and a compact work, but I can also hear an A5 calling in the distance.

  6. Hello, I was concerned that there may be no more new Filofax manufacturing and that they are fizzling out.. also see that the offical blog on the Filofax website hasn't been updated in 2014. Is this spelling doom for continued Filofax availability? What do people know in this regard? Am I being paranoid?

  7. Hello. Does anyone know what is going on with the Filofax websites, particularly the US/Canada site. The Original has been removed from selection options. When I do a search it does come up with a Monochrome photo, but there are no color options. Two emails to the company have gone unanswered.

    1. I do not know about it in particular, but presume they have a halt to all updates due to school holidays (currently too few colleagues left in the office)?

    2. Hi Kristy, I believe they might be out of stock. When you look into Amazon.com you'll find some more collour choices of the Original sold by e.g. Pens and Leather.
