You would think by now, I would have mastered the art of 'What day of the week is it today?'
Not a chance. This week is a typical example. Monday was Easter Monday, that in my head felt more like another Sunday. Tuesday felt more like Monday, and so the week progressed like that!!
I will get back in to sync next week! But May will be a complete nightmare with so many English and French public holidays spanning the whole month!
How do you cope with this sort of thing? Answers in the comments s.v.p.
Of course as it is Friday(checks the calendar for the nth time!) you are free to discuss anything Filofax related.

I was rewatching Filofax-based film "Taking Care Of Business" over the Easter weekend, and noticed that in some scenes, especially at the airport phone booth (~21 minutes in), the ringbound star of the drama has a leather insert in the centre of its massive rings, which seems to separate the A-Z contacts section from the more colorful back section where uptight executive Spencer Barnes keeps his lists of "Power Words," and information his secretary typed for the meeting.

1. does anyone here use a large separator to cut off one distinct chunk of their organiser in this way? I can see the appeal for either a section which sees little or no annual renewal, or to create an annexe for a project which isn't yet in need of its own planner.
2. does anyone use a manual typewriter (which seems likely to handle Personal sized pages better than any domestic printer I've ever owned) to type lists, data, and other inserts as needed?
The Filofax in TCB has a thoroughly lived-in jumble of typed, printed, and handwritten inserts, as well as a mix of coloured pages with the white basics, I also spotted Filofax A-Z & some other parchment tabs sandwiching what look like blank brightly colored tabs in the middle.
And it makes me want a typewriter just so I can bash out some lists, poems, and reference materials, in a more authentically retro format than any Courier typeface!
Not seen the film (really should), but I guess the old leather credit card holder inserts would work for point #1. Sadly these are no longer produced. The leather fly leaf from a Heritage model would also be a possibility.

ReplyDeleteIn my EDC, a pocket ring planner/wallet, I have one as the first insert, which covers the rest of the inserts and the cards, simply looks good and sometimes serves as a writing pad for the shopping list.
On the inner left is the coin compartment and in the long compartment behind it my debit card - so the rest remains invisible to others when paying at the checkout (it only doesn't work in the Holborn pocket and the fly leaf doesn't fit in the small rings either).
The fly leaves were included with four of my currently six pocket planners and I bought one individually from a private person at a very reasonable price.
They offer additional compartments and two of them also have a pen loop.
With a nice piece of (leftover) leather you can also easily cut a leather fly leaf yourself, punch holes and maybe sew on a pocket/pen loop.
I can also imagine it being practical and decorative as a divider in larger rings - especially if it's good full-grain leather and a nice patina develops over time.
