What is Adspot on Philofaxy? It is a page on Philofaxy where readers can post their Wanted and For Sale adverts. Not directly, but via Steve who will get your photos and text on to the page.
Yes the page has been empty these last few months.... but not at the moment. It is full of some excellent organisers that are seeking new homes.
Thank you.
It's great to have it on Philofaxy but the rules may need to be re-considered. I thought of selling with Adspot, but the procedure seems a bit complicated. You can't just post it, you need to email, donate, etc. on top of this there is very little exposure. People rarely check it, I know I don't. It's too hidden away. Also, prices are usually quite high. So I went for other options.
ReplyDeleteIt is not possible to give people direct access to the page to submit things themselves, this would compromise the whole blog.
DeleteWe have sold many items via the page, which is indicated in the page menu bar at the top of the site when using a normal web browser.
If you think we are wasting our time with having the page I will remove it, who ever you are.
I check it regularly. Never know when I might get lucky!
DeleteObviously my comment hurt your feelings, Steve, which was not my intention. Just wanted to help with some feedback. Please feel free to delete it. It was in no way to show any underappreciation of your work. I just find Adspot hard to navigate but obviously others don't, which is ok.
DeleteIt's not that difficult to find. It's in the page menu on a normal desktop browser and on a mobile browser you select the menu option at the right of 'Home' and all the pages appear there.
DeleteThink about it if it was 'open house' to avoid having to email a couple of photos and text to me, which most people seem to be able to achieve, the page would be flooded with SPAM in less than 24 hours.
I'm constantly deleting comments that are spam, every day.
The charity thing was always voluntary, I left it up to the sellers if they wanted to donate or not. I didn't check if they had or not, and proof was never requested.
It's all about trust. And I think as you have seen we have a lot of that in our small community.
The Adspot page is exclusive for organisers, there aren't a million other categories like on Fleabay or Farcebook Market Place. The sellers are Filofax users so they don't go putting A6 when it's really Personal size etc etc.
The page isn't going away. It forms a valuable part of the site and it frequently visited along side the other pages.
This post was just to highlight a number of new adverts which I 'boost' at least once a year.
I have sold and bought on this site, it is a safe way and there are sometimes planners, you did not see in other places. Steve, you are doing a wonderful job with this site and this blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Delete...same here - I´m thinking that it´s a nice feature and look it up frequently
DeleteI look all the time. You just never know where you might find that n+1 binder!!
ReplyDeleteI am a novice with only 6 to my name. Guess where my next internet visit is going to be?? ;)
The Westminster looks an interesting binder. I have been reading past blogs on here related including one on Duplex. That post Steve I think put together an A5 zipped Holborn with a a slimline Holborn. Interesting idea.
ReplyDeleteYes it was only after seeing it in the catalogue that I tried it out with the Holborn A5 and the slimline!
DeleteWestminster Slimline's do appear on Ebay quite often, but this is the first one I've seen with both parts together.
I thought I saw one on Vinted. I am tempted. I have not really seen photos of both binder parts. I think I like the outer but the second / inner one I have the idea that they are plain and not that nice in design. I have not found a decent photograph of one yet. Even the one on vinted I saw did not show things clearly. The catalogue I saw on here with thee Westminster in, took be a few years from 1990 forwards to find it, doesn't have a good photo or drawing of it.
DeleteEmail the seller and request additional photos. I've dealt with Franz a couple of times and he's always very good.
DeletePersonally, I have great respect for the great work that Steve does here on this website for us "analog" people. Personally, I would never be able to maintain a website like this. So much service, information and appreciative exchange. Whether you want to use Adspot's offer is everyone's free decision. But in this materialistic world, every volunteer activity cannot be valued highly enough.
ReplyDeleteThank you, very much appreciated.
